Super 8 is accomplished commercial filmmaking.
Tom Huddleston
A diverting but rather pointless affair, undermined by its obsessive and clinical commitment to recreating past glories.
David Denby
Spielberg and Abrams are the unwitting targets of their own irony.
Christopher Orr
A love letter to a cinematic era, before 'blockbuster' became a synonym for 'franchise' or 'tent pole.'
Tom Long
Remember the good old days? This is the movie you went to see on a Saturday afternoon in the good old days.
Lisa Kennedy
There's much to like in this story of a group of young movie-makers who stumble upon an event right out of, well, the movies.

If Abrams had stuck with the kids and cut way back on all the sci-fi hoo-ha, his film might have stood a fighting chance of being charming. Big is not always better, even when it comes to fantasies.

My critic on this amazing film This was one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen,Don't listen to the negative hype it is amazing, also utterly brilliant, if you liked sort of old alien films than this is the movie for you, and J.J. Abraham's worked his hardest on this movie, effects wise, and also accuratecy wise, so I do suggest you watch it - Jago Fett
I liked this film The acting was decent with good work from the young actors. Great special effects. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the ending but all in all an entertaining film.
Awsome Don't believe the negative hype, this movie was great. If you have an imagination an open mind and loved E.T with a more of a 1950`s twist you will love it....
HATE JJ. If any movie or show has JJ Abrams on it I guarantee that it is a disappointment. Just like lost, the guy cannot finish a story. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
Don't waste your money! Terrible acting, not believable. Special effects were not that good. Very random, just overall not a very good movie so don't waste your money!
Better than expected! Great plot, and interesting central characters. The underlying story was revealed at a nice pace, which kept the suspense level up. I really enjoyed it!
Loved it! This was a really fun movie with good pacing and fairly well developed main characters. Elle Fanning was notably good, particularly when she was "acting" for the movie the kids were making.
Good effects The train wreck scene was amazing. I liked the kid heroes.
Good movie!!!! I love my sci.fi. movies and this one was up there with some of the best. The only prob. Was a little to much on the familys and not enough on the allian. Great effects too!
Nice build up, no payoff. Mostly tense first half. Boring second half. Letdown of am ending.
Ok Enjoyable for the most part, but just felt too weak at the end. Has a throwback feel, they got that right. It's an okay film.
Boringg Boring movie the plot had no significance, answers to the questions raised in the beginning of the movie are answered with platitude. The stupid kids annoyed me
Avoid!!!!! Terrible movie from start to finish. It build slowly and boringly to a laughably bad climax.
3. I say 6/10 because I will never believe an ali3n that is psychic gets mad and kills these people it has connections to , also that it had the power to bring all that metal stuff t8gather to make it's ship why didn't it just suck the wrecked train parts together and do it then, I mean, all his building blocks were in the train...
alwsome!!!!! YO!! :) THIS MOVIE WAS HIT! I LOVEER JOEL COURNEY! :D THIS MOVIE WAS ALWSOME EVEN IF I SAW IT 10 TIMES! xP
