Owen Gleiberman
A dismal, tedious affair.
Variety Staff
Scores with its generally engaging tongue-in-cheek humor.
Jonathan Rosenbaum
The results are high-spirited martial arts and comedy.
Janet Maslin
It is itself a mutant of sorts, a contentious, unsightly hybrid of martial-arts exploitation film and live-action cartoon.
Geoff Andrew
Between the dubbed dialogue and the dark visuals, the cumulative effect is curiously dislocating.
Desson Thomson
Parents can vaguely console themselves, however, that amid the kiddie pollution available on Saturday morning TV, the Turtles rank slightly better than the rest.

This movie is nowhere near as bad as it might have been, and probably is the best possible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie.

The nostalgia is strong with this one I grew up in the late 80's, this movie had to be bought twice, I wore out one copy, but, I'm still the proud owner of the old VHS ( Remember those? ), if you want a family friendly trip down memory lane? With good story, decent laughs, and a heart felt message, you must pick this one up, trust me on this you won't regret it!

Reuniting Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore and director Frank Coraci -- the trifecta behind New Line Cinema's game-changing romantic comedy The Wedding Singer -- this modern-day family comedy follows two single parents, Jim and Lauren (Sandler & Barrymore) who, after a disastrous blind date, can agree on only one thing: never to see each other again. They soon find themselves, however with their respective kids from previous marriages -- on the same family vacation package in South Africa. Despite all their efforts to resist, an attraction grows between the two, blending their two families into one...with hilarious results. Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Terry Crews, Community's Joel McHale, Saturday Night Live's Kevin Nealon and Bridesmaids' Wendi McLendon-Covey are also on board to join the fun.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Comedy

Director Tim Burton brings his unique vision and sensibility to Roald Dahl's classic children's story in this lavish screen interpretation. Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) is the secretive and wildly imaginative man behind the world's most celebrated candy company, and while the Wonka factory is famously closed to visitors, the reclusive candy man decides to give five lucky children a chance to see the inside of his operation by placing "golden tickets" in five randomly selected chocolate bars. Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), whose poor but loving family lives literally in the shadow of the Wonka factory, is lucky enough to obtain one of the tickets, and Charlie, escorted by his Grandpa Joe (David Kelly), is in for the ride of a lifetime as he tours the strange and remarkable world of Wonka with fellow winners, media-obsessed Mike Teavee (Jordan Fry), harsh and greedy Veruca Salt (Julia Winter), gluttonous Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz), and ultra-competitive Violet Beauregarde (AnnaSophia Robb). Over the course of the day, some of the children will learn difficult lessons about themselves, and one will go on to become Wonka's new right hand. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also stars Christopher Lee, James Fox, and Noah Taylor; the book was famously adapted to the screen before in 1971 under the title Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with Gene Wilder as the eccentric candy tycoon.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Emboldened by the return of Lord Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Dumbledore is intent upon preparing Harry for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover a vital key to unlocking Voldemort's defenses--critical information known only to Hogwarts' former Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn. Meanwhile, teenage hormones rage across the ramparts as Harry's long friendship with Ginny Weasley is growing into something deeper. But standing in the way is Ginny's boyfriend, Dean Thomas, not to mention her big brother Ron. Ron's got romantic entanglements of his own to worry about, with Lavender Brown lavishing her affections on him, leaving Hermione simmering with jealousy yet determined not to show her feelings. One student, however, remains aloof with far more important matters on his mind. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Harry, Ron & Hermione, now teenagers, return for their third year at Hogwarts, where they are forced to face escaped prisoner, Sirius Black, who poses a great threat to Harry. Harry and his friends spend their third year learning how to handle a half-horse half-eagle Hippogriff, repel shape-shifting Boggarts and master the art of Divination. They also visit the wizarding village of Hogsmeade and the Shrieking Shack, which is considered the most haunted building in Britain. In addition to these new experiences, Harry must overcome the threats of the soul-sucking Dementors, outsmart a dangerous werewolf and finally deal with the truth about Sirius Black and his relationship to Harry and his parents. With his best friends, Harry masters advanced magic, crosses the barriers of time and changes the course of more than one life. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron and based on J.K.
