Chris Vognar
This is a grittier webslinger saga, led by a Peter Parker with swagger and angst and a tone defined more by emotional resonance than wide-eyed wonder. It still has plenty of fizz.
Dana Stevens
This might be a fun summer blockbuster if only it even remotely needed to exist.
Christopher Orr
The Amazing Spider-Man is considerably more fun-and, yes, even touching-than so premature a reboot had any right to be.
Joshua Rothkopf
On the whole, it's passable stuff, a surprise, given how mechanical the masked character seemed.
Laremy Legel
If you've seen half a dozen superhero films, and the box office results suggest you have, then you've also seen what "The Amazing Spider-Man" has to offer.
Tom Charity
At 28, Garfield's slightly older than Maguire was when he played Peter Parker in 2002, but his combination of fresh-faced innocence, nervous agitation and wry humor is immediately appealing.

Here comes another Spider-dude: This Andrew Garfield guy. So he'd better be really something, right? Well, as it happens, he is.

Good but not great Many people liked this movie much more than the old ones... I am not one of those people. I am a big Spiderman fan (not that, that makes my review any more valuable) and for me... Andrew Garfield is not, and never will be Spiderman. Peter Parker, to me, should never be a skater punk. But... Outside of some small plot holes, a lame love story (my opinion) and a lack of Spiderman swinging through the city streets, the movie is worth watching once.

Better than the previous ones Ok yes, we JUST had a few Spider Man movies. that doesn't mean this one is not good. In fact, to me, it is way better than the 3 previous ones. It is more faithful to the comics and Andrew Garfield makes a better Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire. Too bad some of the special effects are not up to what we can see in other movies nowadays.
Great Blows all three of the other Spider-Man movies out of the water. Best part was that this was closer to the comics than the original trilogy was. The fact that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone can actually act (unlike Toby McGuire) was really nice. Also, the CGI scenes didn't actually look digital and fake (that was one of the main reasons i despised the originals besides the horrible acting--because the difference between the CGI and real scenes was so noticeable i nearly died).

HTC One X+ This movie was fantastic for watching it on a phone. I always thought HTC by far made the best phones. But even I have do say you out did your self with the ONE X+. This phone is so fast and powerful, with a gorgeous display. Everyone has to play catch up to this phone. Kind of sad though, once again HTC puts out the 2 fastest, most powerful devices. And in 4 months from now Samsung will figure away to copy, and everyone will say how innovative Samsung is, LOL, what a joke this world became. TY HTC.
Awesome I really liked this spiderman because it actually dealt with the issue of being spiderman I respect the other ones but I love this one better. It was way more align to the comics and actually showed him making his suit and making his webshooters and it was.repelled from his body. And plus mary jane screaming all the time was annoying. And it actually showed his parents so ya way better rhys iffans was amazing as the lizard

Its ok I've seen the old Spiderman movies with Tobey Maguire and they were real good this new one not so much I mean its good for a new generation who are young and everything those who seen the old spidermans I think you will see it's a step short starting all over again from the origin how he got his powers etc the love triangle is boring but it still solid movie when you see Spider man's eyes and first person its really really cool I recommend people who want a good thrill but don't expect much from fights and everything like that

If this would let me give it 0 stars, I would. One of the worst films I've ever seen. Character development was practically missing completely from the film, the plot was severely contrived and ill thought out, and the graphics were on par with the first Spider-Man. That's not even getting into the lack of respect for the source material. Awful film.

FInally, a Spider-man that actually amazes Though I can agree that we didn't need a new origin, I love this new Spider-man. As a life long comics fan, I grew to loathe the cheap, cheesey Raimi version. Amazing Spider-man is by no means a perfect film, but it delivers a Spider-man and a Peter Parker I can believe. The fight scenes in particular are a joy, as we finally get to see him fight the way a Spider-man should. Furthermore I am in love with the cast, from Martin Sheen to Emma Stone. Very entertaining.

Best spiderman yet I've been watching and reading spiderman for quite some time now and this is by far the best adaption. Webb made this movie the way it should be and somewhat more realistic (not the lizard part) but it has a much more complex plot then the other spiderman movies. I just saw the 2nd one and it's still just as good. All the bad reviews are just so unexplainable like they got paid to do bad reviews. The old spiderman movies were corny and so predictable. This one is and always will be better than the first
Awesome The amazings have been so much better than the originals esp with the crap cheesy acting and storys and tobys robotic dialogue. Andy has nailed role from first movie. All u ppl complaing about too much action and not enough romance or whatev are ridiculous. Dont you understand thats the point of these movies? Ppl, esp fans come to see these hero movies for thier fav characters in epic battles not for character development. If thats what u want stick to twilight crap. Didnt care for JFoxx either though

It's...good The acting and special fx were great and story was well written. But to tell you the truth, it's not exactly the best Spider-Man movie ever. Andrew Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker seemed a bit off to me. He seemed too cool to be a nerd, even before his powers. And the plot was a bit too predictable. I've never read the comic and I heard that this film was faithful to it, but I thought it would be alot better. Call me old fashioned, but I think I'll stick with the original Spider-Man movies for now.

Andrew Garfield is awesome! And for those who think this movie was trash and that the original trilogy was better: enjoy it for what it is. If it's a little too "different" for you because you're not used to laughing every 5 seconds watching a spiderman movie, know that TASM was intended to be more "realistic" or "serious." And this movie was not meant to "replace" the first three, just look at it from a different angle. Any movie with spiderman in it is good :)

Best spiderman movie Spiderman is by far my favorite hero and this movie captures his character so perfectly I mean the Sam rami films were good since spiderman was the first film I saw in the theatre but they Made too serious and Mary Jane getting Kidnapped and screaming all the time just got annoying but this new one was Way better spiderman wasn't too serious and Gwen didn't get kidnapped so A + movie in my opinion
Simply amazing After being disappointed with Sam Raimi's weak portrayal of Spiderman, I was skeptic at first when this was announced. But after I saw it, I was blown away. Sony Pictures hits a better tone with Spiderman and stays true to his character, right down to his witty comments. All the actors do a great job but the moments that steal the show are when Garfield and Stone share the scene. They're chemistry is so true to life. This movie was just simply amazing.

Overall opinion(some spoilers) I thought it was a good movie if you are a fan of Spiderman. It was fun, the action scenes were well executed, and the story was written well. The only thing that bothers me was how Spiderman has a camera labeled with his real name 'Peter Parker' in such an obvious place for Dr. Connors to find. He's pretty much saying hey come and kill my defenseless old Aunt May. I mean, who knows how many students were killed or atleast injured in Dr Connors assault on the school after he found out that Spiderman = Peter
Surprising Spiderman When this came out at the theaters, I refused to see it. I doubted I would see anything I didn't already know after being on this blue sphere, called Earth, for 40 years. Now, after watching it on Google Play, I can say I was not only pleased, I feel it is the best Spiderman flick, ever. The characters were deeper, more human in their interaction, and it didn't feel cartoonish...nor did it rely on sarcasm. This version of Spiderman is thoroughly modern and relevant. Although the story wasn't necessarily new, I felt they found a way to reintroduce Spiderman to a new generation, as a fresh commodity. I liked it, I think you will too. Enjoy. Life is Good!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

Finding himself on the run from the police -- controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world -- Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen.
