You'd have to call the whole undertaking workmanlike rather than inspired.
Amy Biancolli
Pee-pee humor abounds in The Change-Up. There's also a lot of poo-poo humor. And ta-ta humor.
David Denby
This comedy doesn't work very well.
Andrew O'Hehir
It's occasionally funny and a lot painful...
Linda Barnard
The Change-Up goes downhill faster than a snowboarder strapped to a jetpack.
Peter Rainer
Bateman, as always, is surpassingly good, even when the material isn't.

With slight variants, this is another chapter in the epic saga of body shame, gender panic, and free-floating contempt for the human race that Hollywood comedies seem to be issuing piece by piece...

Unexpectedly wonderful Hilarious. Gut wrenching funny. Not for children or teens. Very enjoyable and well written.

The change-up. This is a must see.I love when Ryan was masturbating, and his humor.there is a lesson in this movie and it is that if you work hard for what you want you will achieve the goal you set to yourself.there's one thing Ryan said that touch me"life doesn't turn out how we want but, sometimes, sometimes it turns better"EVERYONE SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE.

Laughed so hard Watched this movie with friends and we laughed so hard are were all crying. One of the best comedies I watched in a long time!
Great movie but it's a rip off don't do it!!! They said it expired 2 hours before it should have so I didn't even get to finish it! I wouldn't rent it unless you can watch all at one time without stopping or trying to finish later, what a rip off! Very unsatisfied & frankly a little disappointed in the way they handled it and there is no way to call customer service!!! Just crappy!!!
Perfect! This is how body switching movies should all be! Hysterical!
Awesome Great movie not for kids to be in the room... Best comedy I've seen in a long time.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, who last teamed in the box-office smash Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, now star in Step Brothers, directed by Adam McKay (Talladega Nights). In Step Brothers, Ferrell plays Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen). Reilly plays Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house. (c) 2008 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. and Beverly Blvd LLC. All Rights Reserved.
