Mediocre Would've been better as a straight-to-bluray release. Sub-par voice acting and a plot that seemed rushed and a little convoluted. My kids enjoyed it but have never asked to watch it again.

A great watch, even for adults This is such a great film. I'm not big on kids films but found myself having to choose what to watch over Christmas and I was genuinely surprised by this film! I enjoyed it from start to finish. The characters are distinctive and loveable, with Grugg and his daughter Eep playing out two opposite aspects of humanity and Guy the source of new ideas. Every line has you laughing, crying or cheering them on. Even my boyfriend who wasn't thrilled when I mentioned it, loves it!
Azazel Leviathan
A family of cave dwellers leave theit home in hopes of finding another safe cave. Along the way they discover they have been missing out on some really fun stuff. Give this one a chance. I really loved it. The characters were lively. I laughed, I loved. It was a beautiful movie with great moments all the way through, beautiful too. You will love this.
Yonsung Lee
An Absurd Journey (with a Capital "A") On a surface, this seems like a whacky family film (and to an extent, it is). However, there is a nice exploration of reconciliation and human struggle against the Universe (a simplified version of Camus' concept of "absurd man") that gives a much more full-fledged meaning to this film. Combined with genuinely hilarious comedy (from fireworks accompanied by Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture to an exploitation of the "Dun Dun DUUUN" cliche), this film is both laugh-out-loud funny and emotional enough to make a grown man cry.
Christopher Newell
Very enjoyable Borders on sappy at times, and some of the character development is a little predictable, but the fact that those are my criticisms puts this animated feature above many others. Enjoyable on the whole. Worth seeing.

Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), whose poor but loving family lives literally in the shadow of the Wonka factory, is lucky enough to obtain one of the tickets, and Charlie, escorted by his Grandpa Joe (David Kelly), is in for the ride of a lifetime as he tours the strange and remarkable world of Wonka with fellow winners, media-obsessed Mike Teavee (Jordan Fry), harsh and greedy Veruca Salt (Julia Winter), gluttonous Augustus Gloop (Philip Wiegratz), and ultra-competitive Violet Beauregarde (AnnaSophia Robb). Over the course of the day, some of the children will learn difficult lessons about themselves, and one will go on to become Wonka's new right hand. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also stars Christopher Lee, James Fox, and Noah Taylor; the book was famously adapted to the screen before in 1971 under the title Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with Gene Wilder as the eccentric candy tycoon.
