Anthony Lane
The story is dense, overlong, and studded with references that will make sense only to those intimate with Nolan's previous excursions into Batmanhood.
Christopher Orr
There was an opportunity here for Nolan to show us another way, to (again) stretch the boundaries of what is possible in a superhero film. Instead, alas, the latter half of The Dark Knight Rises...
Peter Rainer
I'm not arguing that Rises should be Singin' in the Rain. But its Wagnerian ambitions are not matched by its material. It hasn't earned its darkness.
Bob Mondello
The biggest surprise may just be how satisfying Nolan has made his farewell to a Dark Knight trilogy that many fans will wish he'd extend to a 10-part series, at least.
Tom Charity
Others will see it differently, but for me this is a disappointingly clunky and bombastic conclusion to a superior series -- Nolan's biggest and worst movie to date.
Lisa Kennedy
The director and cowriter/brother Jonathan Nolan pay heed to Wayne's wounded emotional arc. And the film is a feat of painstakingly crafted closure.

Average Nolan film Not the best of the trilogy, in fact I see it as being the worst. 'Begins brought us a new version of Batman and the Dark Knight brought us deeper into the world the Nolans crafted. Rises... ended the trilogy in the longest, most drawn out way possible. There were some excellent parts and the acting and effects did not disappoint but I feel it went too far and there was nowhere near enough Batman. A good enough movie to warrant a purchase but definitely not worth 5 or even 4 stars. 3.5 Stars for TDKR.

Instead of Bane for this movie.... They should have used Deathstroke instead of Bane since they did not want to have Bane use his drugs to get bigger. I know they want to make as real as possible but, come on a weak Bane story just for to defeat him so easily at the end. Pretty epic fail. Stick to the comic books and what we know, stop changing story for characters, Avengers did it you didnt see Hulk not turning in the HUlk instead just talking in a deep voice grabbing green paint and saying well this is more realistic.............. If I could give this movie 0 stars I would. P.S. Anne Hathoway as Catwoman wasn't a good idea either, she didn't fit the role well at all.

The weakest of the trilogy Endings are supposed to be climatic, but this film falls short of that goal. It does, however, have what it takes to make a great movie. The exhausting amount of punishment and despair Batman goes through sheds light on his mortality that had not been shown in the previous films. And his ambitious rise and return show a determination and resolve that had also gone un-showcased. I am sad that this is the end to this universe of the Dark Knight, but I am anxious to see how Ben Afflec will do.

Best hero movie ever Poos all 9fer every ither hero movie ever!! Bane destroys the enitre city and breaks batman back, catwoman is awesome at F and thr robin orgin is amazing. Ni5 5oo mention they tie it all into the raz agul orgin of the series and end it in a series of twists and turns all the commercial fans like it less because no joker but true comic fans will appreciate it even though it uses several diff.com8c arcs it uses them seamlessly and far better than in 89 (jack napier)
Not without flaw but terrific... TDKR is still a great film even though it's not perfect. "The Dark Knight" is one of the best movies I've ever seen, but this one isn't quite up there. More Batman would've been nice and it wasn't as awe-inspiring as the other two, but anyone who didn't like it can't say that the old Batman movies were better.

Great Job Nolan! This was a great ending to Nolans version of The Dark Night. I was skeptical at first about Tom Hardy as Bane, but pulled it off nice! Nolan made Bane more believeable by NOT making him get bigger, but instead constantly breathing in the syrum keeping him stronger. The Talia twist was great, and how Catwoman came into play was a good mesh. Still… TDK was hands down, the best of the three.
An exceptional but flawed Batman flick. I'm not saying it's bad, I love this movie. It's a great way to end the trilogy. The problem is that the movie isn't as good as Begins or The Dark Knight, however I'd rank this movie higher than Batman 1989, the Batman film with Adam West, and of course Forever and Batman and Robin. Much higher. This one's really good, and it definitely feels like the last one, but at the same time it seems like Batman could've kept going but they wanted to end it shortly. Watch the movie, good conclusion.

Fantastic An excellent way to end what is arguably the best superhero franchise trilogy ever conceived. Excellent performances by the entire cast and an intense plot with enough down time to let you recover from one edge of your seat scene to the next all building up to a climax that will have your heart racing and eyes wide open. Do yourself a favor and just buy a copy.
Dark knight crashs n burns.. Any true comic fan knows The Batman is the most dangerous man on earth. This trilogy takes that from him and makes him a doofus. Hated every single second. At one point I reached for a sharp pencil to jab in my eye to ease the pain of watching some director crap on what little he knows of who the Batman is.. Bale did the best he could from what he was given I suppose.. so far marvels Blade has been the best comic to movie.. oh & don't forget Hellboy..!!!

GREAT ENDING TO A GREAT TRILOGY,BUT THIS ONE IS MY LEAST FAVORITE OUT OF THE THREE FILMS,BUT I DID ENJOY IT THAT'S WHY IT GETS 5 STARS! D.C. COMICS HELPED PRODUCE ONE THE GREATEST SUPERHERO TRILOGIES OF ALL TIME! GREAT JOB! The only thing i could find wrong with this movie is Bane in the comics he's a whole lot bigger and powerful, but choosing Anne Hathaway as the Catwoman was right on point! The storyline was just a little weak, but it was still a good film! GREAT WORK CHRISTOPHER NOLAN AND THE WHOLE CAST!!!

The Dark Knight Falters Its about 30 mins too long, has plot holes you could drive the Tumbler through, and more than a few plot points that will irritate fans of the comics. Where the hell is Batman? He's literally in this movie a total of 20 minutes. It lacks both the unnerving tension and emotional wreckage of both previous films. It does have some very good performances (particularly from Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and the always dependable Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman), terrific action pieces, and nice cinematography. It's the weakest of Christopher Nolan's trilogy though and overall a disappointing end to an otherwise stellar series.
