David Denby
The film has a vicious edge that the Marx Brothers didn't have, and it's too low-minded to achieve their enchanting blend of anarchy and surrealism.
Joe Morgenstern
Now [Cohen is] turning material both fresh and rancid into tepid gruel.
Peter Rainer
On the laughmeter The Dictator is closer to Borat than to the misfired Bruno, which is to say it's funny for about half of its brisk 83 minutes.
Dana Stevens
Most of The Dictator had me neither laughing nor shocked, but just staring at the screen in anxious is-that-all-there-is? silence.
Christopher Orr
A bit scattershot and schticky, the film never quite settles into a consistent comic rhythm. Yet for fans of Baron Cohen's work there are plenty of moments of crass hilarity.

Juvenile Trash Horribly idiotic. Not funny. The worst of Cohen's work. He should have stuck with his TV show. I am all for scrutinizing and making fun of of terrorists and dictators, but this is dreadful. You will not laugh. If you do, you are certainly an imbecile (or 10 years old).

Rented it from Redbox $1.50 blue-ray Explain why people would pay $4 to watch a movie on 4 to 10 inch screen? You can get it for half that price at red box or on demand via paid tv service.
Hilarious, well done and creative Seem that the only people who don't like this film are Muslims. But again, they don't like much of anything that originates from the West. Exceptions begin: our technology, our beautiful women and per haps some of our fine food.
Terrible I was extremely disappointed with this movie. Borat was the last film I saw from him and it saddens me to know that he put out such an awful movie. Not funny. Not entertaining.
Heaters gonna hate Sure, this movie isn't for everyone. It's a bit cheap and predictable, and the plot was forced, the characters flat and unlovable, and the ending was trash... But aside from that it was a decent flick. I liked it.
Stupid. what an idiot. its so highly stupid. this cohen dude has cashed in, the racist idiot.l
Funny Laughed a bunch at this film, quite good! Like how it satirizes our corrupt government
Waste of time Very few funny scenes, the rest is a piece of junk and an insult to your intelligence unless you have none, in which case you may find it hilarious. If i could give it no stars i would.
Great movie!!!!! This movie was hilarious!! A must see! Laughed from beginning to end! Sacha Baron Cohen is awesome!!!
Waste of time This movie was not worth the money or the time. It was horrible not even sure why I watched it. Safe to say I won't watch any of his movies again
So much potential Great idea for a movie, too bad it became a predictable lame love story
A struggle to watch The nuclear scientist was the funniest character. The film was a hope straining bore.
Hilarious Laughed from beginning to end, many subliminal messages that if you don't get them you won't think it's funny
so funny ! I've never laugh at any movie like this ! I saw Dictator 10 times more !
Sacha baron cohen is awesome Love anything this guy does that being said I thought this was a step under Bruno or borat but still amazing just more scripted
