The movie is a flume ride through the imagination of one of the most creative minds making movies today, and the pleasure curls your toes. Also, be ready to crave some macaroons.
Tom Long
"Budapest" is pretty much an old-fashioned screwball comedy garishly dressed. It's goofy, eccentric and often downright silly. There are many scenes that would have worked in a "Three Stooges" movie.
Joe Williams
After feeding on this sweet buffet, sated cinephiles will want to call the front desk to extend their stay.
Alex Pappademas
In its own silly, artificial way, it's the first Anderson film to acknowledge the existence of a world outside its own little toy box and to ground its characters' nostalgia in something resembling...
Christopher Orr
The comedy in The Grand Budapest Hotel is among the broadest yet undertaken by Anderson. But amid the frenzied hubbub, there are intimations of a darker, sadder history unfolding.
Taylor Sahleen
Top notch As always Wes Anderson's movies do not disappoint. He has a way of making movies both beautiful and painfully awkward and this one is in my opinion more on the beautiful side. (Its still awkward) Great movie. On my top 10 for sure.

I loved The Grand Budapest Hotel! It had a candy-coated shell that took some of the bitter heartbreak away. The romance and honor of a bygone era subdued me, and even through the pain I was enchanted. Devotion, strength and honor stood in beauty like Edelweiss in snow, and I was left with a blossom of sweetness to fragrance my soul.

The Grand Budapest Delight Wes Anderson has become one of my favorite directors in recent years. Ever since Fantastic Mr. Fox, he has proved that with a hint of wit and eccentricity, any thing he brings forth to the silver screen is a delight. The Grand Budapest Hotel is no exception, with an all star cast, brilliant performances, and fantastic writing, it goes without a doubt that this may just be the most underrated movie of 2014. Nonetheless, Mr. Anderson I tip my hat to you once again.

absolutely beautiful, never dulls. Each moment of this movie is just as captivating as the last, not only due to the film's impeccable storyline, but for the uniqueness of every visually vibrant scene and setting. Tastefully surreal and highly imaginative, the movie greatly benefits from Anderson's subtle yet brilliant delegation of colors and costume (Wes Anderson has a reputation for his ingenious filming methodology that remains consistent if not even more successful with each release) I am reminded of the cinematic palette Tim Burton used in the widely acclaimed, now-cult-classic production by the name of Edward Scissorhands, although the techniques were used by Anderson and Burton to reach separate ends. Where Burton seemingly used color tonality to contrast the dark and intense Edward against the blandness and superficiality of a new world, Anderson's use of color communicates a decadence preferred by the esoteric and wealthy patrons of the Grand Budapest, in a way that makes each character seem "at home." Where both movies possess the dreamlike quality of an urban legend as it would be playfully told by an elder narrator, The Grand Budapest is arguably the more comical of the two films.

Overstated with pomp and circumstance- Ralph Fiennes dialogue is overly extensive. With so much pretension Anderson in his grandest form dispenses with this pressure, but not in this piece. This is simply a carnival of all his cherished players. The scenes are stilted and obtuse with dialogue that is albeit complex but cold and measured...Why so much dialoge?...Don't the scenes tell their own story? Sure, Fiennes delivery is spot on but with a story that is so scattered does it really matter? I couldn't even finish the film...My brain is full...Moonrise Kingdom offers a story with an arc that completes his diverse scene tone poems...This film offers a breakneck pace with little room to appreciate any rhythm that might compliment the thoughtful sets and props that Anderson so painstakingly constructs...Where is the acting we saw in Aquatic and Darjeeling?

I will watch this forever and ne'er become tired I absolutely fell in love with this film when I saw it theatre. It is worth the price to watch, to see over and over again. There is definite amusement, horror, bloody scenes, lovey-dovey scenes, stupidity.... an all out wonderful movie. I recommend it to anyone who likes quirky films with a great in acting cast.

One of Wes Anderson's greatest films if not one of the greatest films. I simply adore this movie. The story, the characters, but most of all - the charming, simple, eyepopping, magical cinematography. A treat for the heart, mind, and especially the eyes. I rarely buy movies, but this is one I will cherish owning.

The misadventures begin when Miles (Paul Giamatti), an un-recovered divorcé and would-be novelist with a wine fixation, decides to gift old college buddy and washed-up actor Jack (Thomas Haden Church) with a celebratory trip to the vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley the week before Jack's wedding. The two couldn't be an odder couple. Jack is an over-sexed charmer; Miles is a sad-sack worrier. Jack is looking for his "last taste of freedom"; Miles just wants to taste perfection in a bottle. Jack is fine with cheap Merlot; Miles pines for the elusive, perfect Pinot. Indeed, the only thing they seem to share in common is the same heady mix of failed ambitions and fading youth. And yet, as they make their way up the coast, Miles and Jack soon find themselves drowning in wine and women. Both men careen dangerously and comically toward mid-life crises. Now, the wedding approaches and with it the certainty that Miles and Jack won't make it back to Los Angeles unscathed or unchanged...if they get back there at all.
