McCarthy's an actress who needs a foil, and for now Bullock is more than good enough. I just wish these two had found each other 10 years ago.
Christy Lemire
Director Paul Feig, whose Bridesmaids upended notions of what a raunchy ensemble comedy could be, does it again here with another genre.
Cath Clarke
If you've never seen the point of Sandra Bullock, watch this.
Peter Travers
There are only two reasons to see The Heat. But they are formidable reasons, and they go by the names of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
Stephanie Zacharek
If you've never seen Sandra Bullock blow a peanut shell out of her nose, and you'd like to, The Heat is your movie.
Richard Brody
The many formulas never mesh, and some formidable actors stumble trying to keep pace with its out-of-synch meters.

If this were funny, The Heat would add up to your average buddy-cop comedy. Except that it's not funny, at least not very and not often.
User reviews
Wanted to route for this movie BUT..... I read the reviews like everyone else and decided to give this a go....I will agree on the side of it being a "waste of time". I felt the movie lacked intelligence and relied heavily on insulting, raunchy humor. The bar scene was totally unnecessary to showing us anything relevant about the characters and dragged the movie painfully on. I'm not a"fan" of either of these actresses and this movie did nothing to change my mind.

That movei was so funny it was good I liked it it was so funny I laughed so hard I think it was really funny and it was really good it was really fun and it was really good it was really fun and it was really good it was funny and good and hilarious hello was like wow it was like what oh my god and I was like it was slow really so really funny oh my god so funny oh my god I almost peed my pants watching that movie well I washed it the trailer but I want to be a movie and it was a really funny movie was a movie with Halle funny what I say movi

Great duo! These two are absolutely hilarious together! The movie is funny as hell! Loved it. Anyone who bad mouthed the movie and the actresses needs to remember its only a FILM, it's not real life,it's called ACTING, SO.... those people need to get a sense of humor!!! Oh and remember they got paid to act like that. Geeeze, get a life!!!

Funniest Bud Movie LOVE Melissa. What script you ask? When they let her improv she is rocket funny and leaves Sandra trying to catch up. Sandy is not as funny as she has been in others, but she played well against McCarthy's crazy. MM is awesome and the funniest female actress. Did you really expect a big plot like Lethal Weapon? I'd love to see her with Jim Carey. Movie would be a blockbuster.

4.5 Stars, very funny I enjoyed this movie much more than I thought I would. Lots of laugh out loud moments. If it wasn't for that stupid drunken bar scene, I would have given it 5 stars. Whoever dreamed up that scotch-tape-on-the-face bit should get out of the entertainment business. Other than that, it was definitively a worthwhile rental.

The misadventures begin when Miles (Paul Giamatti), an un-recovered divorcé and would-be novelist with a wine fixation, decides to gift old college buddy and washed-up actor Jack (Thomas Haden Church) with a celebratory trip to the vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley the week before Jack's wedding. Jack is fine with cheap Merlot; Miles pines for the elusive, perfect Pinot. Indeed, the only thing they seem to share in common is the same heady mix of failed ambitions and fading youth. And yet, as they make their way up the coast, Miles and Jack soon find themselves drowning in wine and women. Both men careen dangerously and comically toward mid-life crises. Now, the wedding approaches and with it the certainty that Miles and Jack won't make it back to Los Angeles unscathed or unchanged...if they get back there at all.
