Award Winner for 2012! First off -Some of these comments should be Tributes to the Trash! They obviously saw a different movie. Of course the storyline was already there and was followed very well. That along with excellent acting, cinematography, directing , and audio tracks that are nothing like I've experienced before in a movie. This movie will be raking in the awards because it deserves it!

Great! Obviously the books are going to be better, but it was great. People who gave it a low rating don't have any taste. This series is my favorite series, of books or movies! I have read all three and have watched both the Hunger Games, and Catching Fire, and I definitely will watch Mockingjay part 1 and part 2. This is a great movie.

Poor Adaptation of the Book The screen play was spotty. The characters were without depth. The sense of urgency and desparation was missing. It was not believable. A tremendous let down that missed the mark in every area.

Absolutely great I had doubts, never saw in theaters but then I rented to see what the hype was all about and this movie kicks butt! Great story and acting is perfect. Great for all ages I recommend for anyone looking to see a "really really good" movie.

Great movie In a post apocolyptic world were they have oppression and divide this movie embracess a harsh reality that freedom is something that only the few see. Kids are used as pawns to remind the masses of the war and bloodshed. This movie captured that those willing to sacrifice for the many will prevent history repeating its self. What showed is that with in each distric something of a reality that we can see today if we choose to see it. I loved the movie and the lesson it taught about humanity.

Best. Movie. Ever. Such a good movie! Very true to the book although they kind of rushed through the ending, but it was still good. I read the books, I liked the movie. Some people who read the books hated it but I loved it.

Did they even read the books? I was amazingly disappointed in this movie. I however LOVED the books they took out atleast 97% of the love story between Peeta and Katniss, they skipped over some of the most important parts like the avox or Peetas dad coming to visit Katniss to promise her family wont starve, or his mom telling him SHE is a survivor. The book is a million times better i promise
Too violent for kids I give the movie 5 stars for being a really good movie, however minus 3 stars for marketing a very violent movie to kids. Who in their right mind want to take thair kid to see a bunch of teenagers violently kill each other with knives, swords and bricks. Hell they might as well have them rape each other and eat the bodies when they are done. After watching this thing I felt like 300 was a rate at G movie. Warning do not let your kids watch this movie unless you don't mind them watching blood pattering everywhere.
Book They left out vital parts in the movie..the mocking jay pin was not found. It was given..peetas leg should have been cut off and given a wooden leg.so many things wrong or left out. But it was a fantastic movie
Weak acting. Not horrible, but horribly over hyped. Those who thought it deserved the hype don't know good acting. None of the main characters showed any believable emotion. I only really liked the mentor, and he had no face time. The plot was good, the cinematography was acceptable, but because of the acting the movie didn't really stand out to me. I honestly thought Ender's game was a better film adaptation. Clearly some of these fanboys/fangirls have clouded judgment.
rated it was terrible left out the little things that made the book so great. i am amazingly disappointed.
Best movie based from book in a while. This is honestly an amazing movie. I have read the books so there were a few things that have been left out and changed but thisbis honestly one of the best movies best off a book in a while. It had an amazing cast the writers and producers did an amazing job transforming this movie it what it is.
Definitely not better than the book But, what movie is? I did however, enjoy the thrill of the masterful cinematography and story. Can't wait to see it on Blu-ray!
Astounding, amazing and, most of all, authentic! My wife and I (both aged 50+) saw this at a Saturday AM showing opening weekend. As book people, we usually read a book before we see the movie it is based on and consciously look for the inevitable changes. We devoured all 3 books the week before the movie, and the changes between book and film were so perfect we had to discuss the film later to recognize them. Brooks and Collins created a perfect marriage of author's and director's visions, and created not one but two masterpieces. We eagerly await #2!
Garbage! I dont know what people see in this movie. Pure garbage. So many other better movies out there. Waste of time. The book might be better....but not gonna read it! There are so many 5 star reviews here that look fake...possibly a marketing hype! do not buy into this!
Ok After seeing Battle Royale, I'm going to be bias here but this movie is child's play compared to Battle Royale. The Hunger Games has potential, but it was neither executed well enough in the novels nor the movies so far. Plus Battle Royale had richer and denser character development than the Hunger Games. Furthermore, the Hunger Games is really aimed at teen hormonal girl/boy teenagers with its nice love triangle which was executed badly and not believable.
The Best Movie Ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone Who Hasn't seen The Hunger Games Should! Its an amazing movie. And I just want to say that the comparisons to Twilight are all wrong. Ive read all Three Hunger Games books and saw the movie and I'm a HUGE Twilight fan, but the two movies are NOTHING ALIKE exsept the fact that the three main characters are 2 boys and A girl. Anyways, The Hunger Games Is An Amazing Movie, and thats an understatement. Please watch It!!!
Stupid! This movie is completely stupid. It feels like a low budget, slow moving "B" movie. Might be okay for dumb teens, but any adult with semi decent taste will feel like they wasted time that they will never get back.

The Tree of Life
Drama

The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith. Through Malick's signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

As the death toll escalates and people struggle to protect themselves and their loved ones in a society breaking down, one activist blogger (Jude Law) claims the public isn't getting the truth about what's really going on, and sets off an epidemic of paranoia and fear as infectious as the virus itself.
