Dave Calhoun
Even the always-watchable Shannon can't give much life to Kuklinski's two-dimensional presence: he's little more than a series of murders and pained looks.
Lisa Kennedy
Shannon gets at his character's pent-up torment as well as his efficient disconnect. When his two worlds start to converge -- on his daughter's sweet 16th birthday, no less -- you feel for him.
Steven Rea
A true-crime thriller directed with grit, gristle and punchy energy by Ariel Vromen, The Iceman is never less than fascinating, even if things get a little ham-fisted here and there.
Adam Graham
As the body count mounts, the movie begins to spin out of control, but Shannon and Vromen don't let it derail. Their focus keep things from melting down.
Adam Nayman
Michael Shannon is an overpowering actor, and in The Iceman, the best that he can do is wrestle the movie around him to a stalemate.
Ty Burr
It's a fascinating subject - the beast that lurks inside the family man - but the movie blows it.

User reviews
The Iceman left me cold Wow this movie was very disappointing. I was a huge fan of the book and I think that was my problem with the movie. It is often the case with film adaptations of books that Hollywood omits many details but too many important details were omitted and some things were added that just flat out didn't happen as depicted in the film. Other than a very brief flashback and a conversation with his brother, the film depicts very little of Kuklinski's childhood. His childhood was a big part of how he grew up to be a psychopath. Inaccuracies aside, as gangster flick, it wasn't very impressive. The characters of Richard and his wife weren't developed well, and I was left feeling unsure of why some people were getting killed. What happened to Richard's son? He had a son who was a teenager by the time he got arrested who started to have a rocky relationship with him, and R. Kuklinski said he and his son's relationship was starting to resemble the relationship he had with this dad. This conflict would have been great to see on film, but this movie squandered the opportunity. The movie was also poorly paced with a rushed ending. "The Iceman" missed the mark, read the book instead.
Best Gangster movie since Goodfellas! :-) Hardcore and Brutal, was really well made! Should have been at the theater?

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
In Werner Herzog's new film Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans, Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is to scoring drugs while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes) and together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manically humorous.
MPAA Rating: R for drug use and language throughout, some violence and sexuality
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes and Val Kilmer

Mike Weiss (Chris Evans) is a talented young Houston lawyer and a functioning drug addict. Paul Danziger (co-director Mark Kassen), his longtime friend and partner, is the straight-laced and responsible yin to Mike's yang. Their mom-and-pop personal injury law firm is getting by, but things really get interesting when they decide to take on a case involving Vicky (Vinessa Shaw), a local ER nurse, who is pricked by a contaminated needle on the job. As Weiss and Danziger dig deeper into the case, a health care and pharmaceutical conspiracy teeters on exposure and heavyweight attorneys move in on the defense. Out of their league but invested in their own principles, the mounting pressure of the case pushes the two underdog lawyers and their business to the breaking point.
