Moira MacDonald
West's found-footage structure doesn't always entirely make sense, but it's easy to forgive "The Sacrament" its flaws.
Robert Abele
The first half is a cautiously dread-inducing tour de force... The second half, however, when all hell breaks loose a little too quickly, is the disappointment.
Peter Keough
Everything that happens is what you'd expect, and the choice of subject and the modifications West has made to the generic conventions don't add much to the suspense or thrills.
Bilge Ebiri
The Sacrament may not be a good movie, but it has enough virtues - enough gripping, well-put-together moments - that it made me reconsider my opinion of West as a director.
John Semley
The tension fizzles as The Sacrament narrows into predictability, indulging every cliché of found-footage filmmaking and Jonestown-styled cult apocalypticism.
Manohla Dargis
Shifts from the unnerving to the hollow after it becomes evident that Mr. West is more interested in showing how his characters die than how they lived.

This was some bullshyt! Cant believe I wasted money on this. It was a Jonestown rip off. Nothing original about this. Oh, its not a "horror" either... I read some reviews, I typically don't put too much into them (good or bad), however, I will start. Eli Roth, you disappointed me with this retelling of Jonestown... Waste your money if you want to, but go rent anything about the Jonestown massacre (or google Jim Jones), and here is your movie. "Father" even had the sun glasses and kool aid.

In Fear
Horror

This critically acclaimed Sundance breakout is hailed as one of the best horror films of the year. Tormented by an unknown entity, a young couple fights to survive a road trip-turned-nightmare when they're trapped in a claustrophobic backwoods maze on a dark road. On one of their first dates, Tom (Iain De Caestecker of TV's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D) and Lucy (Alice Englert of BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) drive to a music festival in a remote countryside village. But when they leave the main road to look for their hotel they quickly become hopelessly lost. Misleading road signs send them in circles and soon night sets in. As their anxiety escalates they discover they are not alone, and this sadistic game spirals into a white-knuckle ride for survival. Costars Allen Leech (TV's DOWNTON ABBEY, THE IMITATION GAME).
Nothing Left to Fear
Horror
3
The first film from music icon Slash (of Guns N' Roses fame) and the latest from the producers of THE EYE and THE RING, NOTHING LEFT TO FEAR is based on the true-life demonic folklore of Stull, Kansas. Wendy (Emmy®-Nominee Anne Heche of TV's HUNG) and Dan (James Tupper of TV's REVENGE) move their family from the big city to a sleepy Kansas town and take over preaching duties from retiring Pastor Kingsman (Clancy Brown of TV's SLEEPY HOLLOW). Unbeknownst to them, their new home is actually one of the seven known gateways to Hell. The family's quiet new beginning is savagely derailed by a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. Directed by the protégé of Oscar®-Winner Gore Verbinski, this heart-pounding thriller costars Ethan Gregory Peck (THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE).
Frozen
Horror
3
Critics have called it "OPEN WATER on a ski lift" and "JAWS in the snow." It remains perhaps the most intense and terrifying film of 2010: As Sunday evening falls, three snowboarding friends decide to take one last run down the slope. Halfway up the mountain, their chair lift stops, the lights go out, and the resort closes for the week. They are stranded, but the worst is still to come. A storm is approaching. Frostbite is setting in. And on the ground below them, a pack of hungry wolves have gathered to wait. Kevin Zegers (DAWN OF THE DEAD, WRONG TURN), Shawn Ashmore (X-MEN, THE RUINS), and Emma Bell star in the relentlessly chilling thriller from writer/director Adam Green (HATCHET) that Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News hails as "a vicious, scary and horrifying experience...FROZEN is a howling good time!"

Who will be left to fight for their survival and defeat this unearthly force of murderous carnage?
The Possession of Michael King

Following the sudden death of his wife, the atheist documentary filmmaker decides his next film will disprove the existence of the supernatural. Michael allows demonologists to perform their darkest rituals on him knowing that when they fail, he’ll have on-camera proof that religion and the paranormal are nothing more than myth. But something does happen. And Michael is progressively consumed by an evil force that will not let go. This breakout possession thriller costars Dale Dickey (TV’s TRUE BLOOD) and Julie McNiven (TV’s NCIS).

As a torrential rainstorm moves into the area, tragedy strikes and his daughters Iris (Ambyr Childers, THE MASTER) and Rose (Julia Garner, MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR) are forced to assume responsibilities that extend beyond those of a typical family. As the unrelenting downpour continues to flood their small town, the local authorities begin to uncover clues that bring them closer to the secret that the Parkers have held closely for so many years.
