Rich Hill
Rich Hill, Missouri (population 1,393) could be any of the countless small towns that blanket America's heartland, but to teenagers Andrew, Harley and Appachey, it's home. As they ride their skateboards, go to football practice, and arm wrestle their fathers, they are like millions of other boys coming of age the world over. But faced with unfortunate circumstances -- an imprisoned mother, isolation, instability, and parental unemployment -- adolescence can be a day-to-day struggle just to survive. With no road map and all evidence to the contrary, they cling to the hope that hard work will be rewarded and even they can live the American dream. Spending a year with these boys and their families, homegrown Missouri filmmakers Tracy Droz Tragos and Andrew Droz Palermo craft a tale that is cinematically rich and exquisitely intimate, and put a human face on rural poverty in a respectful and artistic way. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, RICH HILL is an irresistibly moving examination of the challenges, hopes and dreams of rural America's youth.
Mary Queen of Scots: The Red Queen
There are few women in history to have truly stood the test of time but the romance surrounding the ill-fated Mary Queen of Scots has ensured that her story lives on to intrigue and fascinate each new generation. However, who this 16th Century lady actually was and what role she played in the history of Great Britain can often be something of a mystery. Both of these questions and many more will be answered through the course of this film, while we take you on a journey of discovery across the majestic landscapes of Scotland, England and France to find the femme fatale behind the legend. The Castles of Scotland are synonymous with this Queen, who was crowned at Sterling when she was just nine months old. Follow in her footsteps to Linlithgow, Edinburgh and Lochleven Castles and see for yourself the Palaces where Mary lived, loved and lost in spectacular style. Piece together the Queen of Scots’ turbulent relationship with her cousin Elizabeth I of England, which ultimately proved to be Mary’s downfall. In different circumstances the two women might well have been friends but when the Queen of England signed Mary’s death warrant the Queen of Scots, dressed in blood red, played out her final act under the executioner’s axe. The story of Mary Queen of Scots is as alive with passion, drama and political intrigue as any 21st Century blockbuster movie, so take the highroad to Scotland and let the adventure begin.
Between the Buried and Me: Future Sequence - Live at the Fidelitorium
The concept behind "Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium" is in contrast with Between the Buried and Me's ambitious and impressive live stage production. This video features the band in a small studio setting in which they perform "The Parallax II: Future Sequence" album in its entirety at the Fidelitorium outside Winston-Salem, NC.
No No: A Dockumentary
NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY tells the story of Dock Ellis who, on June 12, 1970, pitched a no-hitter for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 137 years of organized professional baseball, it’s the only no-hitter tossed while the pitcher was on LSD. Dock was often embroiled in controversy on and off the field. While professional baseball hadn’t fully embraced racial equality, he was an outspoken leader who lived the expression ‘Black is Beautiful!’ His fearlessness enabled him to become one of the most intimidating pitchers of the 70’s and a trailblazer for a new wave of civil rights. After retiring, Dock became as outspoken about his career-spanning substance abuse issues as he had been about intolerance. He spent decades utilizing his brash approach as a counselor, helping other addicts in their recoveries. Through intimate stories and a trove of archival footage, NO NO: A DOCKUMENTARY brings Dock’s vibrant life to light, burnishing the legend and revealing the man behind it.
Enemy of the Reich: The Noor Inayat Khan Story
From PBS - Enemy of the Reich: The Noor Inayat Khan Story brings to life the story of a woman’s extraordinary courage, tested in the crucible of Nazi-occupied Paris. With an American mother and Indian Muslim father, Noor Inayat Khan was an extremely unusual British agent, and her life spent growing up in a Sufi center of learning in Paris seemed an unlikely preparation for the dangerous work to come. Yet it was in this place of universal peace and contemplation that her remarkable courage was forged. In early 1943, Khan was recruited as a covert operative into Winston Churchill's Special Operations Executive (SOE). Churchill’s orders: to “Set Europe ablaze”. After the collapse and arrest of her entire network, Khan became the only surviving radio operator linking the British to the French Resistance in Paris, coordinating the airdrop of weapons, explosives, and agents and supporting the rescue of downed Allied fliers. Betrayed by a French collaborator after four months, Khan resisted brutal interrogation by the Gestapo, escaping twice—only to be recaptured and sent to Germany where, at last, she was executed at Dachau.
The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story
Their music is unforgettable. Their name is legend. The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story is an intimate journey through the lives of Robert and Richard Sherman, the astoundingly prolific Academy Award®-winning songwriting team. While their songs, "A Spoonful Of Sugar (Mary Poppins)" and "I Want To Be Like You (Jungle Book)," to name a few, celebrated family entertainment and happy endings, their life together was not as harmonious. Go behind the scenes for a fascinating glimpse into how Walt Disney used the language of music to bring the brothers together, creating a cinematic legacy like no other.
Capitalism: A Love Story
Exactly one year and a day after the initial Wall Street bailout, Michael Moore (SICKO, FAHRENHEIT 9/11) looks at the global financial crisis and the U.S. economy during the transition between the incoming Obama Administration and the outgoing Bush Administration. In standard Moore fashion, he mockingly draws attention to the Wall Street and Government decisions that have enabled what he calls "the biggest robbery in the history of this country."
We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks
Filmed with the startling immediacy of unfolding history, Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney's We Steal Secrets : The Story of WikiLeaks details the creation of Julian Assange's controversial website, which facilitated the largest security breach in U.S. history. Hailed by some as a free-speech hero and by others as a traitor and terrorist, the enigmatic Assange's rise and fall are paralleled with that of Pfc. Bradley Manning, the brilliant, troubled young soldier who downloaded hundreds of thousands of documents from classified U.S. military and diplomatic servers, revealing the behind-the-scenes workings of the government's international diplomacy and military strategy. In seeking to expose abuse in the corridors of power, Assange and Manning were undermined by forces within and without, as well as by their own human failings. We Steal Secrets : The Story of WikiLeaks is a riveting, multi-layered tale about transparency in the information age and our ever-elusive search for the truth.

On the surface, "A Genius Leaves The Hood: The Unauthorized Story of Jay Z" chronicles how hip-hop's most successful rapper of the past two decades reached the top; but at its core, the film attempts to divulge the savvy and cunning business acumen of a mogul who decided being at the top of the charts wasn't enough. This film uncovers the price Mr. Carter paid for his success through recent controversies that include the racial debate of the Barneys deal, the feud with Harry Belafonte, and clashes with community activists over the construction of the Barclay Center. Korengal
Korengal picks up where Restrepo left off; the same men, the same valley, the same commanders, but a very different look at the experience of war. Korengal explains how war works, what it feels like and what it does to the young men who fight it. As one soldier cheers when he kills an enemy fighter, another looks into the camera and asks if God will ever forgive him for all of the killing he has done. As one soldier grieves the loss of his friend in combat, another explains why he misses the war now that his deployment has ended, and admits he would go back to the front line in a heartbeat. Every bit as intense and affecting as Restrepo, Korengal goes a step further in bringing the war into people's living rooms back home.
