Jonathan Rosenbaum
With a running time of nearly four hours, Cecil B. De Mille's last feature and most extravagant blockbuster is full of the absurdities and vulgarities one expects, but it isn't boring for a minute.
Variety Staff
DeMille remains conventional with the motion picture as an art form. The eyes of the onlooker are filled with spectacle. Emotional tug is sometimes lacking.
Stephen Garrett
It's the gigantic vulgarity, the obsessive righteousness of the director himself, which keeps the show on the road and suffuses the movie with its daft power.
Bosley Crowther
The crammed contents are linked ponderously in a long, warning movie sermon that has authority but little power.

Best movie ever! I am 26 years old and I have watched and LOVED this movie ever since I was a lil girl and love it more each time I watch it. It was around long before I was born and will be around long after I'm gone,it truly is a classic! I bought the movie so my daughter too could fall in love with this historic movie. It was done so very well considering it was done in the 50's it looks better than majority of the movies we have today. Good history lesson for believers of our Lord and Savior!

Beautiful cinematography Heston is not the best actor in the world. But for this role I couldn't imagine anyone else doing it justice. And the filming is just gorgeous. Watch it every year.

THE CAST IS FAKE This true story didn't have pale people in it. The true Hebrew Israelite people were and still are dark skinned people. This is a fake mockery of who really had to suffer in Egypt. Stop trying to steal mine and my people's heritage. The pale people with no melanin came from the Caucasus Mountains. THERE ARE NO PALE PEOPLE OF THE TRUE HEBREW ISRAELITE PEOPLE OR IN EGYPT. GET YOUR HISTORY RIGHT.!!!
Ben Cummings The very best and all time inspirational films 1956, And still is today!.
