To Kill a Mockingbird is a time capsule, preserving hopes and sentiments from a kinder, gentler, more naive America.
Dave Kehr
Harper Lee's child's-eye view of southern bigotry gains something in its translation to the screen by Robert Mulligan, who knows exactly where to place the camera to catch a child's subjective experience.
Geoff Andrew
This one is always just off the boil.
Bosley Crowther
Minor shortcomings in a rewarding film.
James Berardinelli
Universally recognized as a classic, and the label is well deserved.
Harper Lee's highly regarded first novel has been artfully and delicately translated to the screen.

An incredibly touching movie This movie is beautiful. The actors were amazing and perfectly portrayed the emotions, characteristics and personalities. I cried while watching this and it is one of my favorite classic movie, considering I am an English learner. I love this movie and I would recommend it to everyone.
POIGNANT & THOUGHT PROVOKING Brilliantly produced & acted. Every child should see & discuss this movie while in school <6th - 7th grade> ... Adults will be struck by its profound yet "not said aloud" social statement(s).
