James Adams
Soon enough the worlds of Up Top and Down Below feel like distractions, CGI Potemkin villages.
Peter Howell
A Romeo and Juliet story for the age of CGI overkill, Upside Down zigs where it should zag and dulls where it should dazzle.
Richard Corliss
Absent any emotional grounding, the film is a gorgeous, sterile construction, like a dream city unoccupied by humans.
Peter Sobczynski
Simply put, this is one of the craziest films to come along in a while and I can confidently say that anyone who sees it will either hail it is some kind of crackpot masterpiece or dismiss it as...
Stephen Whitty
It doesn't really develop its story, or its themes. It doesn't truly draw out its characters. It evokes no serious emotions. It has - in the end - no gravity.
Kyle Smith
"Upside Down" is such a gorgeous wreck that I could almost sense Terry Gilliam somewhere muttering, "Wait a minute, I should have been the one to screw up this idea."

Well... The premise was incredible, and it's worth the view because it looks awesome, but it was just really poorly written. When the credits started rolling my sister and I looked at each other and said, "they could have done a lot better". And by a lot, i mean it's almost tragic what they did to such an amazing idea.
Great Concept, Terrible Movie Upside Down is a film that sounds interesting (ignoring physics, of course), but proceeds to make just about every mistake in terms of plot and character development imaginable. The result is a boring, lifeless movie that even the most sensitive person won't care about. A complete and utter waste of an interesting concept. Beyond an interesting premise, this movie offers nothing.
Interesting Concept and Visuals Upside Down caught my eye when I went into the Google Play movie section. I clicked on it and watched the trailer only to be pulled in by the visuals and the imaginative world that had been created. The price for the HD version was only $12.99 so I said, "What the hey..." and took a leap. Being the logical and scientific thinking person I am I had to suspend my belief in every law of physics to enjoy this movie but to tell you the truth it wasn't hard to do with the visuals that are on screen. For an estimated budget of $60 million the visuals impress beyond that of many mega budget films. Anyway, this is a world in which there are two worlds on top of one another and connected yet not connected. If you come from one world then you are tied to its gravity. So two people can be standing on the tip of a mountain on either world and have a chat with each other standing above/below one another. It's an interesting concept that throws out physics but is fun to watch. The women will like this one for the love story and the guys will like this one for the visuals and the concept so you can even throw this one on as a movie that a couple can watch. All in all I enjoyed it a lot and
Details missing but overall excellent A visually stunning movie with a decent story. I think if they had explained a few key parts better and extended the movie to 120 minutes, it would have been clutch. However, the movie is still very good and was well made. Kudos to Juan Diego Solanas for envisioning the environment.
Imagination of beautiful Not only is this film amazing but has a very beautifuly done story I really dont see what these critics think is so bad a masterpiece doesent have to be perfect it should only show our imagination its a romeo and juliet on a whole new level these critics in my oppinion have no imagination!
Confused about this once It was billed as a scifi film but it came across as a romance. Very good acting but I was expecting something much different then I got. It was essentially a boy chases girl movie with cool FX on a different stage. The ending was not predictable but I felt like I was left hanging (probably for a second movie).
Really good The visual affects were amazing, the story line was pretty predictable, (spoiler alert, if you haven't seen this movie and want to see it, then stop reading now) Towards the middle part of the movie, some how I figured out that the girl was going to end up pregnant, hence making the ending pretty predictable.
