This doesn't pack a punch like 'The Fighter' - but it's still a must for grapple fans.
Bruce Diones
The movie is so skillfully made, and the performances are so convincingly real (Hardy is sensational), that, as it reaches its cathartic, winning finish, it achieves a surprising compassion and honesty.
Bob Mondello
Warrior ends up feeling a lot bigger than you expect it to.
David Edelstein
It's too corny to live. But the picture is a slam dunk. I mean a ground-and-pound double-leg takedown. It's really gripping.
Mary F. Pols
Warrior's three principle characterizations are compelling - Nolte in particular gives a tempered performance as the shambling, sad-eyed wreck of a dad - but not enough to mask the film's lesser elements.
William Goss
The beats are familiar, the stakes are high, the fights are brutal, and the rewards are just.

O'Connor films the fight scenes, and the fight training scenes leading up to them, with the requisite oomph.

One of the best movies I've ever seen.Makes me cry every time.I'm sorry Tommy.I'm sorry.Tap Tommy. It's okay. It's okay.I love you.I love you Tommy. Absolutely awesome. The five 1 star reviews on here are from guys that had their girlfriends banged by a actor or two from this movie and now they're bitter.
Beautifully executed This is a movie about healing scars. Yes it is centered around MMA but it is so much more than that. The fighting may be stylized at times but that is for esthetic purposes. You don't want to watch a real MMA fight in a movie because it won't deliver the adrenaline rush you get from stylized action. Keeping that in mind, the story is a little cliché. However, the acting is fantastic as is the direction. This movie will move you as it was designed to do. Excellent movie.
Suprisingly Good! Even though I heard this movie had received good reviews, I was still skeptical. MMA cage fighting brothers premise sounds cliche n stupid yet its not at all. It IS great movie even when you know how its going to end. What matters is how the director, the actors delievered it -Spot on!! Worth watching!
Fantastic film! A must watch film for anyone who appreciates great performances. Nick Nolte is absolutely amazing in his portrayal of a recovering alcoholic in search of redemption. But the stories of his 2 sons is just as captivating and well acted.
Just plain good People saying it just good or it was bad...they do not know what a good movie is!! This movie is one of the best movies i have ever seen!! It is a great movie it really was!! I would recommend this to anyone!! plus some way some how if you have family issues u can relate to this movie!! It is a must see!!
STRONG acting, weak writing To many cliches. The physics teacher losing his house to foreclosure who makes a Cinderella comeback. The alcoholic father trying to redeem himself. The warrior trying to self-destruct because of his guilt at having survived when his best friend didn't. It's like they tried to combine several different movies into one. The real saving grace is the FANTASTIC performances of Hardy and Note. Hardy explodes off the screen with the visceral rage any combat veteran knows all too well. Note walks the walk of regret with a natural humility that is too real to even seem like acting. I just wish the writers in Hollywood would ask a veteran for advice every once in awhile. The back story they give Hardy's character is perfectly ridiculous to anyone who has ever spent a day in uniform.
Excellent Best MMA related film to date, with a captivating story line about a broken family and different paths of struggle, trying to work through their failures and broken ties. A Sad but heart felt story with a happy and heart warming ending. Must see.

Unlike any other fighting movie From Rocky to Mortal Combat, fighting movies have a bad rep as always missing a key element. Weather the action is sparse and poorly done, or the acting/story leaves something to be desired. Let's leave it at Fighting movies generally are not viewed as "award winning" or "masterpieces" Warrior breaks this mold. With great acting, story, cinematography, action, and music this is an across the board amazing movie. But It goes a step further. Many movies struggle to create a lead character who you root for and want to succeed. Warrior managed this twice, creating two characters who you cheer for and want to succeed. Both of whom you can relate to. And it is a chilling moment moment when that announcer tells the world that they are brothers. Even though you already know this, even though it has been made clear all movie. At that moment it becomes real. Any one who has a brother will be brought to their knees by that last 15 minutes. Almost all brothers have fought at some point in their lives(and I mean physical fighting), and that fight at the end is so accurate of the feelings of those fights. Lashing out anger ending in feelings of regret and sorrow. It is an amazing moment.
Dazzling I went into this movie with high expectations, and was very surprised when the film exceeded them. The plot makes you fall in, as you watch this previously dysfunctional family take on the world, each member of the family in his own seperate way. This truly captures the feeling of any sport, the anxiety and suspense you feel previous to the end. The end, was very satisfying, as before you are rooting for the both of them, you have to choose one. However, this isn't to say that the other is left in the dust. The ending suprised me at how well it managed to satisfy each character's problem, one a mental issue the other a money issue. It could be interpreted as slow at the beginning, but after the first time you see Tommmy take someone down, you are near forced to finish the movie. It keeps you enraveled with the introduction of plot elements and new characters, along with un expected character developments, and you get to see how much each brother has touched and affected the world. Truly is a great movie, done very well, I approve.
A minus stars is need it¡ This is a really bad closet-homo-erotic movie.... Trying to take advantage of good movies like: Million Dollar Baby, The Fighter, etc. To gain viewers? Shame on those people!!!. This "sport" is so closet-homo-erotic, plus the ADHD, by the way, well portrayal by the actors... After all many of those so called "fighters" with their not assumed homosexuality and "look at me I am tough" "look at me! look at me!"; uhhh!!! and their overreacted maners, Well I see they love drama. The result of no healty parenti
A personal favorite of mine. Though, other than the general feeling of hoping the down and out characters will beat the long odds, I don't understand the Rocky comparisons. Maybe if the Italian stallion were a generally intelligent, middle class school teacher who's family was struggling to get by in a tumbling economic crisis.. And if teacher Rock had an estranged, almost forgotten brother, also a gifted pugilist, running from terrible trauma sustained in the war in Vietnam. Throw in an alcoholic father, all of the villains from the first four movies and everyone meets up at the boxing tournament to end all boxing tournaments. So.. Not Rocky. But great none the less.
Good to great Good movie that gets great once its in the ring. Really is a good portrait of a fractured family that doesn't even know how it got there. Great fight scenes.
Corny I enjoy mma but this was not only corny but pretty bad...2 hrs i will never get back
Great. Literally the best movie I have seen in a long time. Amazing acting, great plot, & has a lot of heart. Very captivating.
Well done! Loved it. Character development was good. Fight sequences were a bit cliche but done well. Story line was enough to set the stage for multiple tear jerking moments.
One of the best ever!! This is now one of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen it sooo many times now and I still cry every time. The acting is incredible. This is the best movie of 2011, if not of the past 10 years.
How did this not get more play This is hands down the best movie in the last 10 years! Instantly in my top 10 of all time. Already ordered the blue ray! How did this thing not get promoted better than it did is beyond me I think they missed the boat on this one could have made a lot more money. Hands down Nolte's best roll ever. And these two brothers were perfect I couldn't pick who I wanted to win. All around great movie!
