Synopsis

Walt Disney Animation Studios proudly presents Winnie the Pooh, a wonderful new adventure from the creators of the hit film Bolt. Return to the Hundred Acre Wood for a heartwarming original movie, and reunite with the beloved bear and his silly but steadfast friends for a magical family experience. When sad old Eeyore loses his tail, Owl sends the whole gang - Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga and Roo - on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne's books and created in Disney's legendary, hand-drawn style, this all-new classic introduces one of the world's most cherished characters to a whole new generation.

wonderfully sweet found this movie while my toddler son was in the hospital. it was his first movie. we watched it 17 times in a row during those 3 days. the story unfolds linearly - one story opens and then another opens and then another opens, and then the most recent closes, the one before closes, and the first one closes. they aren't jumping around between stories. they aren't muddling the plot up with complexities that would break a toddler's attention. it sweetly pushes always forward. simple, sublime. nothing about it loud, or aggressive, or anxious. pure sweetness. we left the hospital and a few days later had to order it because we all missed it. ah, did I mention the interplay between the written word on the page and the story, where Pooh sometimes wanders out onto a paragraph? a brilliant twist. and Zoey Deschanel's vocals are enchanting.

One of my favorite Disney movies. This and The Princess & The Frog is the best excuse that traditional animation is a beautiful price of art that still needs to be used in everyday entertainment. Thank God traditional animation will be used in The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water. I hope there'll be more traditional animated movies in the future.
