[A] lousy, ugly-looking, intensely illogical movie.
Christy Lemire
As both thrilling spectacle and escapist summer entertainment, World War Z is enormously effective, with Brad Pitt at the center hopscotching the globe in search of the origin of a zombie apocalypse.
Peter Rainer
Pitt conducts himself manfully throughout the proceedings -- he is never less than believable while facing off against this pandemic -- but if I never see another zombie in the movies, I will not feel deprived.
Matt Zoller Seitz
If you need proof that sometimes more can be less, here you go.
Lisa Kennedy
As compelling as Pitt is at reflecting the world's pain through Lane's eyes, the movie treats him too often as if he truly is the only one with loved ones to lose or a world to save.
Michael Sragow
World War Z hits the blockbuster equivalent of a delicate balance: gargantuan spectacle with a human touch.

World War Z opens with an undeniable bang. But if this is the way the world ends, we're going out with a whimper.

Rent it first Sure special effects are great but I felt that something was missing. Kind of like watching a movie leangth trailer of the movie. Storyline seemed to go so fast that the characters new what was going to happen before it did. Sorry but it could have been better. The best zombie movie I have seen so far is Warm Bodies now that was a great movie.

Not what I hoped Poor delivery of what could have been a good experience. Pitt let me down with an almost emotionless portrayal of this character. The shock of zombies looks like it is no shock at all to the characters of this movie who are all, apparently, emotionless at seeing the world end. Sad substitute for something as gripping as The Walking Dead for character development. Worth a watch, then move on.
This movie makes me sad The book World War Z was a brilliant work...and as source material it had nothing to do with this film. This film is as generic as fast-zombie movies can be. (oh fun fact novel was about SLOW zombies). this movie is not worth purchasing it is perhaps worth watching if it comes on TV. Hollywood always has me in mortal fear of what they are going to ruin next.

Zombies... Another zombie flick, but not bad considering...had a better than most storyline, scientific plot and reasoning, with realistic aspects that were plausible. Those points alone beat any other zombie movie hands down, lol...If your into zombie movies with a realistic twist you'll love this...enjoy!

Nice addition to the Zombie apocalypse canon A fast paced entertaining zombie action thriller that doesn't distract with logical fallacies or the complete absence of logic to advance the plot like many in the same gene. In the same wheelhouse as 'I Am Legend' with a faster pace and more consistent action. Definitely worth the rental for an entertaining night at home.

Classic Zombie Action. World War Z is a pretty good zombie flick. It has a few slow moments but overall, is a satisfying and entertaining movie. Spoiler: Unlike typical zombie flicks, this one has a hopeful ending. Normally, everyone dies in this genre. It is kind of satisfying to see someone survive.
Horrible There were a couple of scenes with some good visuals and some of the fast zombie scenes looked cool. Besides that there isn't really anything to recommend about this movie. Just movie producers slapping the name of a popular zombie book onto a movie that shares just that, the name. Bad story bad acting. I'd wait for this one to show on tv or Netflix. Or read the book.

Abysmal adaptation, but still a decent flick. If you've enjoyed the book, prepare to be frustrated the whole way through. The experience, the characters, the story and even the zombies' physiology from the book are never acknowledged. But, if you can get pass that, it's a decent action flick, while still one with an inappropriate name.
