The Last Movie
A mysterious lady in a diaphanous nightgown appears. Blood drips from her hands.
This is the opening of a classic Russian noir film which writer-director Nicholas Crawley will update for a North American audience.
Crawley is fascinated by the original which is shot in glorious black & white in classic noir style. The plot is also classic noir. -- the mysterious woman, Nastya, and her lover Pavel plot to murder of her husband Alexei.
THE LAST MOVIE is a thriller, a study in filmmaking and an exploration of a mind unraveling.
Followed by a journalist documenting the making of his film, Crawley battles his bottom-line focused producer and the intricacies of the new production. The director is determined to honour the creative elements of suspense played out in the Russian movie while making it accessible to a wide market.
Key to the film's success is the casting of the remake's leading lady -- a femme fatale who orchestrates a web of intrigue and murder. Elizabeth Seitz lands the plum role -- but it will come at a high price. Crawley encourages the actress to wind her own background and psyche into the character. And Elizabeth does.
Elizabeth moves into the house which will be the film's set. She screens and rescreens the original film. Delving deeper into the role Elizabeth becomes obsessed with the Russian model and its echoes in her life.
An eerie madness ensues that turns the making of the remake into a suspense thriller in and of itself.
Bruce Pittman has made a film in the vein of classic film noir.

Running Dry
"Jim Thebaut has accomplished with Running Dry what few documenting water have even attempted. The film gets behind the headlines and superficial treatments to really grapple with the complexities of the global water crisis.
"Jim Thebaut seeks out a huge diversity of expertise from around the world, from former Prime Ministers to local activists, to expose his audience to the many facets of this universal problem. Moreover, unlike many, he is not content simply to describe the problem, but spends significant time on outlining a clear agenda for helping to solve these seemingly insurmountable issues. One comes away both informed and energized to do what one can to help."

Eric soon develops an enabling relationship with saxophonist/
resident Tharin (Conrad Roberts - Scorpion King, Mask of Zorro), exchanging dope for the rights to blare loud jazz after hours. As Eric charms his way into the home's drug cabinet, he inadvertently brings some light to the retiree's grim lives, throwing parties, matchmaking, and slipping the residents a few happy pills too. Kinks
Split up as children, because their parents divorced, the film starts when they finally meet again after years growing up on separate continents. On meeting it is obvious their agendas are as different as their looks. The fiercely competitive, western educated Caucasian looking Jay wants international success for her cross cultural dating show. She returns to Malaysia to produce her dream, a reality show for the American market. To succeed she needs it to be as outrageous as possible. Jay's Malaysian twin sister, Joythi, the Indian looking darker one, happens to work for Ministry of Culture and something something. She is more introverted and has to learn to stand up to her sister while desperately trying to keep her job, while in charge to establish some decency in Jay's misguided production.
Clashes are inevitable!
The story of this mockumentary feature evolves during the two weeks production of the dating show pilot.. Through the seemingly different twins, Jay and Joythi the audience will witness first hand all the bruised egos, crazy accusations and extreme cultural clashes and misconceptions between East and West but also the similarities of two sisters being eventually just humans.
