In 2012 we find Bruno moving into an empty council estate flat in East London and attempting to get back to pursuing his life mission of performing. Story/Time

Documentary
Director and choreographer Bill T. Jones – whose major honors include a MacArthur “Genius” Award, the Kennedy Center Honors and two Tony Awards for Best Choreography – returns to the stage at the center of a new work for his renowned company. Inspired by legendary artist and composer John Cage’s Indeterminacy, a performance of seventy one-minute stories interrupted by a chance musical score, Jones creates a collage of dance, music, and seventy of his own short stories, arranged anew for each performance by chance procedure.

In Story/Time, Jones fuses the age-old art of storytelling with a vibrant landscape of contemporary movement and music. Similar to a busy streetscape or a crowded room, the experience challenges audience members to find meaning and connection in the sweep of randomized, disparate elements. Jones’ short stories are drawn from his own life and tales handed down through the generations of his family. In layering a traditional form against the avant-garde compositional concerns of the mid-century modernists, the tension between high and low art is called in to question.

In his first project with the Company, composer, musician, and intermedia artist Ted Coffey, Ph.D. composes and performs a new acoustic and electronic score that draws upon chance procedure and interactive technologies. Long-time Company collaborators Robert Wierzel (lighting design), Bjorn Amelan (décor), and Liz Prince(costume design) create the stage environment.

World Premiere in January 2012 at Peak Performances @ Montclair State (NJ). Co-commissioned by Peak Performances @ Montclair State (NJ) and the Walker Art Center. Developed in residence at Arizona State University Gammage Auditorium, Bard College, Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University, University of Virginia, and the Walker Art Center.

Wheat and Tares

Documentary
"I'm going to be here all that weekend, I'm going on suicide watch, they won't even know," Kevin says with a tremble in his voice. His parents think the world is going to end in a couple of days and their belief is so sincere it has rocked their family to its core. For Kevin, the fact they've quit their jobs and given up all other aspects of their life in order to get closer to God is terrifying. "I'm just hoping they're paying their bills, or one day I'm going to be sitting here and the electricity will go out." They believe the world's going to end because radio preacher Harold Camping has told them so. According to the faithful, a great earthquake will roll all around the world killing most of the world's population and transporting the saved to a new divine level. "We don't know who these people are, but we know there's about 200 million people that God's interested in saving." Candance explains to a couple of teenagers who stop to pick up her leaflet. But why are all these people so eager to accept Camping's doomsday prediction? Dig deeper and each person reveals a fascinating internal explanation for their faith. Darlene, almost at her wit's end with family members who don't believe her, finds the approach of the end of the world has provided a clarity and meaning that wasn't there before: "It's so funny all the years I was working like a maniac to make money and being careless in my actions but I was sane then. But now when I have total faith in my Lord...and really come to a place where I'm happy, now I'm crazy." Tick tock, tick tock the hours and seconds count down ... the hour arrives ... but nothing happens. "This is a big deal and I've got to think it out." Camping says in the hours after the 21st comes and goes. So how did the faithful take it? They are so rocked to their core they can't return to being their normal selves. "To me it almost feels like a death in a way." Candance says. "It changes you and you can't go back."

The Disappeared

Documentary
At least 15 people were 'disappeared' by the IRA during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Some of them are still missing. The most recent search was for the remains of 19-year-old Columba McVeigh who was disappeared in 1975. A specialist forensic team spent five months in 2013 digging in a bog in County Monaghan, but found nothing.

The film highlights the powerful story of the life and harrowing death of widow and mother-of-ten Jean McConville. She was dragged from the arms of her young children by an IRA gang in 1972, then shot and buried. Her body was finally recovered in 2003.

Michael McConville explains how at 11 years of age he was tied up and beaten when he threatened to tell police about what had happened. His sister Agnes recalls the abuse they got from other children afterwards, before the siblings were shipped off to various orphanages.

The IRA policy of disappearing victims dates back to 1972 when four people were taken from Belfast. It is said to have ended in 1981 after an order from the IRA's governing Army Council. A policy of lies and intimidation appears to have run in parallel with the policy of disappearing people. One family after another explain how they were virtually silenced by a climate of fear. They also had to cope with rumours claiming their loved one was alive and well. The evidence suggests these rumours were invented by the IRA to keep the families away from the truth.

A forensic detective outlines the mechanics of the killings and burials. He tells how most of the victims were shot once in the back of the head and then dumped in shallow graves. In some cases the bodies were weighted down with stones in case they rose to the surface if the bog dried out.

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams is challenged about allegations that he ordered the disappearance of Jean McConville. Adams, today a member of the Irish parliament, is also probed about his knowledge of the fate of two IRA men who were disappeared in the same way that same year.

Some bones have deep cuts, long bones are cracked and skulls crushed—distinct signs of cannibalism. Was it a result of ritual or hunger? I Can't Believe I'm Telling You This

Documentary
'Hi everyone, I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer and I'm feeling OK, if a bit nervous', Martin types into the YANA (You Are Not Alone) web forum for people dealing with prostate cancer. A professor of Archaeology with an inquisitive mind, Martin wanted to know as much as possible about his options. He approached the web 'not just for the scientific stuff..it's also the emotional and lifestyle stuff'. The risks of incontinence, impotency and erectile dysfunction are 'not easy to talk about with guys..on the internet I didn't feel like I was taking my clothes off in public'. This embarrassment was what led prostate cancer to claim Horace's father's life. 'He was most upset when he found out that some of his friends had had the cancer and never said anything..by the time he went to the doctor it was too late.' When Horace himself was diagnosed his first thought was 'Oh my God I'm going to die.' But remembering his father's experience, he began talking about it with other men on the internet. 'It makes me feel better about the fact my PSA has got worse.' At the end of the week Martin will have an operation to remove his prostate. He came to the decision after reading many other men's testimonies on YANA. But he admits that the limitless stream of information on the internet can be misleading: 'I thought that maybe an hours searching on Google', laughs Martin, 'and I'd discover that thing world class Urologists had missed'. But whether it's advice, new developments or simple solidarity the men are looking for, many doctors now don't see a conflict in the web. 'It's gone down. I feel quietly elated' says Horace, as he clutches his PSA results. If the barriers to beating prostate cancer are as much social as they are scientific, 'I Can't Believe I'm Telling You This' is a powerful story of hope for the 200,000 men it affects every year.

Ground Operations: Battlefields to Farmfields

Documentary
Sgt. Adam Burke made a promise to God. Bleeding out from a mortar hit in Iraq, Adam promised God that if he could live to see his family again, he would do something to make his life worth saving. Two years later he started the Veterans Farm, a place of emotional solace and job training in organic blueberry production for disabled vets like himself. 'Teach these guys how to farm, they can have sustainable lives with sustainable agriculture.'

Our warriors are coming home from battle and sharing their stories. “Ground Operations: Battlefields to Farmfields” traces their journey into the war, through the gauntlet and back home, where they experience unemployment, PTSD, drug and alcohol addiction. Faced with the absence of their team and a mission, wounded and forgotten, a veteran commits suicide every 80 minutes.

The vets in Ground Operations are bucking those odds. “As a combat veteran, I was involved in a lot of destruction. “ says Mike, a former Marine. “Shifting from that to growing something, seeing something thrive, does something on a very deep spiritual level.” Working from disability checks, often pulling their buddies along with them, we witness Ground Operations’ heroes restoring their lives and serving their communities with new careers in sustainable farming and ranching.

Lucky for us, because “there are twice as many farmers over the age of 65 as under the age of 35., reports Michael, director of the Farmer-Veteran Coalition. “ We see the loss of our farmers as a matter of national security.” The USDA is calling for a million new farmers in the next ten years to fill the coming gap.

Fortunately, the Cavalry coming over the hill is just that ... it's the Marines, Army, Air Force and National Guard. Recognizing the connection between local food security and national security,
these young men and women are forging a network in sustainable agriculture that benefits us all.

Central Casting couldn't have done a better job. The vets in 'Ground Operations' are compelling, funny, handsome, entrepreneurial and engaging, and you'll be rooting for them all the way to your local farmers market. America needs a million new farmers. Veterans want the job!
