The narrative begins with the creation of the world, the first and the last acts frame the story that show us Adam and Eve travelling through space and time in search of the meaning of life -- with the guidance of Lucifer himself. Jankovics drew all the acts in different style making us feel that we are watching a monumental encyclopaedia of animation. The first human couple travels from the Paradise through prehistoric times, the ancient Egypt, Hellas, Rome, the medieval Byzantine Empire, Kepler's Prague, the French Revolution to the London of the XIX. century, then Jankovics rushes us through the last 150 years of Europe and we get an insight to the future. The film is a highly dramatised version of the play: while it keeps the philosophical profoundness of Madách's book it also highlights visually its unique wit and makes Lucifer's fight for the soul of the first man more compelling than ever.

While out for a walk and a 'relief' one day Ivan receives a revelation from the God of S**t, is hit by a meteorite, recovers to find he has supernatural powers and become the Prophet who founds the Temple of Holy S**t. Ivan's new stance replaces the unkept promises and lack of miracles by the existing government and he is idolized -- hearing confessions, talking with the Secretary of State and the head of the FBI, blessing the faithful at his sermons, and carrying on the full schedule of government mockery until he is kidnapped by the KGB and taken to Russia where his psychic powers are used for bizarre needs. He escapes and returns to his Temple which in turn is destroyed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms and Premature Ejaculations!

There are few aspects of world politics and fanatical religion and anti-social doctrines that are left untouched by Batchev's wildly imaginative humor: Batchev (or rather 'El Vulgaro') calls this film 'Cinema of the Absurd'. Children of God' explores the life of the children who live beside the Baghmati River in Nepal - on the sacred grounds of a Hindu temple in Katmandu, an area forgotten and ignored by the world but considered the holiest and most sacred to the Nepalese people. The children are undeterred by the cries and wailing from daily funeral ceremonies; instead they rob the corpses for food and dive into the river to grab coins used as funeral offerings by the mourners. Some risk their lives by begging while others fall prey to drugs and disease. The film exposes the social conditions of the suppressed Nepalese people through the plight of their children, where reverence for the old and dead far outweighs the care for the young and living.
