Plot Summary

Being the adventures of a young man...who loved a bit of the old ultra-violence...went to jail, was brainwashed...and came out cured...or was he? In a futuristic welfare state, Alex (Malcolm McDowell), a vicious young hoodlum, sleeps all day and spends his nights roaming the city with his droogs (friends), assaulting innocent people in the streets and in their homes. Finally captured by the police, Alex undergoes rehabilitation in the form of aversion therapy as brutal and horrifying as any of his offenses.

Fresh: Stanley Kubrick's latest film takes the heavy realities of the 'do-your-thing' and 'law-and-order' syndromes, runs them through a cinematic centrifuge, and spews forth the commingled comic horrors of a regulated society. – A.D. Murphy, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

OMG

I came into this movie, not knowing if it could live up to the other of Kubrick's masterpieces, but it ended up as an amazing movie. People need to get past the explicit violence and sex, and appreciate it for what it is, a spectacular experience. Its one of those movies, in which you are left breathless because of how much you saw, so fast. It definitely took me a couple days to take it in. It features a great performance from Malcom McDowell as disturbed Alex, and some of the most unique cinematography and set-design on fill. It is accompanied with a haunting score, and the music of Beethoven. Watch it now!!!!!

Great Movie

My whole life, I had seen the iconic photo of Alex (Main Character) in that triangle almost every place that sold movies. Now, a few weeks ago, a friend of mine mentioned this and told me about it and showed me some pictures of it and I saw the iconic photo. After that, I really wanted to watch it, so I rented it, here on itunes (just in case I didn't like it). "A Clockwork Orange" is one of the greatest films of all time. The story is so awesome, the acting is very good, and when I (and probably most people) started getting interested in watching it, thought it would be all ultra-violence. Even though it is still very violent, it is mostly sweetness and I think that is what is really great about. Also, it has made me appreciate classical music a lot more (I'm thinking of buying some Beethoven on itunes :D). I have one complaint about it though: the ending. *SPOILER* At the end it shows Alex in a hospital, next to a doctor, smiling, with people taking photos of him while Beethoven plays in the background. Then it goes to a clip of a woman (what looks like) being raped and Alex says "They cured me alright." Now Stanley Krubrick, the director, adapted it from the American version with only 20 chapters, when the Uk original had 21. I wish he had used the UK version. Overall though, great movie and I love it!

Great movie for it's time

I've heard many great reviews for this movie, so then I decided to give it a shot. The first 25 minutes of the movie is amazing, and like nothing I had ever seen before, but sortly after it gets slightly boring. The next (nearly) 2 hours of the movie was very uneventful. The ending wasn't what I expected. I was hoping more. I do have to say that the overall idea of the movie is incredibly creative and truly a great step for cinema with it's early 1970s release. I give A Clockwork Orange 4 stars, because even though I personally was bored with the movie after the very entertaining first 25 minutes, it (like I said) was seen nowhere else in the early 1970s. So for that the film is great, but personally it wasn't what I thought it would be. It's worth a watch though.
