Plot Summary
'About Alex' is the story of seven college friends who reunite over a three-day weekend, after one of them attempts suicide. When the friends get together to keep an eye on Alex, the weekend that ensues will renew old crushes and resentments, shine light on bad decisions, and ultimately push friendships and relationships to the brink as the group tries to speculate when the simple life of their college years turned so muddy and complex. Sometimes irreverent, sometimes poetic, and always moving, About Alex is a searingly honest look at the changing nature of adult friendship in the Facebook/Twitter generation.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The insight that social media fosters false intimacy is old news. The film shows only a half-formed sense of how careers have changed in 30 years.
Rotten: Neither the script's up-to-the-minute signifiers nor its cheekily self-aware humor can entirely dispel a formulaic feel.
Fresh: Unambitious but amiable, it benefits from the presence of familiar talents.
Fresh: The intelligence and unhackneyed humor of the believable, unself-conscious screenplay by fledgling director Mr. Zwick (son of veteran director Edward Zwick) deserves special praise. It never hits a false note.

Great movie! Witty dialogues and fantastic acting
I wasn’t sure what to think before I ordered the movie but wow, it’s been a real treat. The acting is magnificent — special kudos to Max Greenfield (perfect in the role of blase/horny/cynical intellectual) and Aubrey Plaza (adorable in the insecure/cute/professional woman), but whole cast is really amazing. I personally didn’t like “The Big Chill” and I think this movie is a much, much better one (and I’m not even sure the comparison with “The Big Chill” makes any sense to be honest). In any case, watch it, you won’t regret it.
Real
Yeah, it wasn't really a comedy. More of a light-hearted drama. But it was good. Realistic characters. Real-life problems. Real nic.e
A drama the new generation can relate too
I saw this movie twice and i think it really touches on in depth situations so awkward and unfamiliar that most people wouldn't even acknowledge them. I liked it a lot and if you want to see a down to earth movie watch this one right here, i can say i learned a lot from this movie and I'm so happy i found it
