Plot Summary

Raucously funny and sweetly romantic, Adam and Steve is a twisted, tender comedy that would surely make "John Waters cackle with glee" (LA Weekly). In the 1980s, Adam (Craig Chester) and Steve (Malcolm Gets) had a horrifically embarrassing one-night stand. When they meet again years later, they fail to recognize each other and fall in love-as do their wisecracking best friends (Parker Posey and Chris Kattan). Honest, irreverent and a whole lot of fun, Adam and Steve is all about making love work-whatever the odds.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Who said mainstream Hollywood has a monopoly on dumb, gross-out farces? The gay, independent comedy Adam & Steve is as crude and nonsensical as any number of B-list studio equivalents. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: Material is uneven, but rhythm and pacing keep action moving smartly. – Ronnie Scheib, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Much of Craig Chester's good-hearted love story Adam & Steve is silly and contrived, but the film boasts four engaging actors, including Chester. – Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times, Sep 20, 2007

Rotten: Adam & Steve mainly goes to prove that indie gay romantic comedies can be just as witless, vulgar and over the top as their straight, major studio counterparts. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

An Honest Opinion

I am the type of person that reads positive movie reviews, and thinks "This person is probably an idiot, and has no idea what a good movie is." To be completely frank, that is what I've thought of every good review I've read about this movie -- that is until I saw it for myself. This is a completely genuine, well written, comedic, and adorable movie about a classice love with somewhat of a "twist." ABSOLUTELY FANSTASTIC. My sense of humor would most likely be classified as "crude" or "dry," but this movie had me cracking up nonetheless! Craig Chester also does an INCREDIBLE job on the character of Adam, and makes the movie all the more believeable.

Ultimately, this movie is a great "feel good" movie that will definitely satisfy. I've watched it 4 times in the last 24 hours and it hasn't gotten old yet! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS FILM!!

A Gay Must See!

One of the funniest and best gay love stories of all time. A gay classic up there with "The Boys in the Band."

Parker Posey and Chris Kattan are superb supporting roles. The humor is timeless and the love story grows in it's beauty with every viewing.
