Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: At Sundance, where the first showing was nearly laughed off the screen, Adore, based on a Doris Lessing novella, was known as Two Mothers. You should know it as something to avoid.
Rotten: It's even hard to simply enjoy the performances of the two stars, who give more that the film deserves.
Rotten: Cast actresses with the skills that Naomi Watts and Robin Wright bring, give their obliviously icky story some arthouse visual lyricism, and you've got "Adore."
Rotten: I have no idea why such strapping young men would be so desperate for sex as to hook up with a couple of museum artifacts they've known all their lives, but this hokey soap views contrivance as a small price to pay for lush mommy fantasy.

breathtaking
Naomi Watts and Robin Wright deliver stunning performances. Finally an erotic movie with depth and character, for mature adults. Reminded me of 'Closer' but somehow more innocent and relatable. Gorgeous photography, emotional twists and turns in an unforgettable setting… this is bold filmmaking at its best. Ignore the critics, they're simply turned off by the 'taboo' subject --- make no mistake --- this film is brilliant and truthful. I loved every second of it.
Intelligent, non-judgemental
Yes the subject matter is morally dubious, but if you reserve judgement for a moment you may find more to the film than you expect. I loved it!
It's About time
For how many year's have women had to put up with the double standard- perfectly acceptable for older men to be with younger women. This movie turns the tables in a gorgeous way, with a surprise ending. Worth watching and soundtrack is great!
