Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The lovebirds' dialogue has the sophistication of a junior high school romance, and Mr. Schaeffer appears to have pasted his story together from the button-pushing plotlines of other films.
Rotten: Like his unlucky-in-love characters, prolific filmmaker Eric Schaeffer keeps trying, to little avail.
Rotten: Another sanctimonious dose of talk-therapy cinema.
Rotten: A mixed-up movie about mixed-up people.

After loss, hope
As a sequel to 'Fall', After Fall, Winter is another movie where one gets insight to how other people live their lives in unique ways but are still subject to the magnetic pull of falling in love. One gets the sense that Michael hasn't lost his 'game' when it comes to courting women, even when it is clear he isn't on the make with Sophie but rather that he knows she is going to have a huge impact on his life.
To all of us out there who are 'still single', movies like this inspire hope that one doesn't have to become jaded but can remain open that the person of our dreams is out there and can be reached so long as one is brave enough to walk up to them and say hello.
Paris, makes for the perfect setting for such a story. At almost two and a half hours the movie paces well and the comic relief is timed perfectly. If your jaded let this film thaw you out. If you're looking for hope continue your search with some added fuel in the form of this film.

Very good
This film is a sequel to Fall. I did not see Fall, so I only have a perspective on this film alone.
Personally, after watching the trailer I wanted to see it and rented it immediately. The characters seemed interesting and the story uniquely dark. Although the reviews above might not agree with me, I felt the story was written well and had a lot of heart wrenching emotional moments throughout it's entirety.
Dark films appeal to me, so if you are like me you might like this film. Let's not forget this is definitely a love story, so if you're not into that, try getting into it. You might enjoy yourself.
After Fall, Winter
I became a fan of Eric Schaeffer after viewing his movie Fall several years ago. Eagerly anticipated his new movie and was not disappointed. How refreshing to see a movie that is so real, gritty and honest. This movie definitely didn't wrap a neat little package where I was manipulated and given the happy ever after ending that is assembled in Hollywood all too often. I enjoyed the drama of real life emotions and feelings as they happened to the characters. Mr. Schaeffer is achingly honest and never holds back the emotions he portrays.( I'm hoping it won't really be fifteen years before the next saga! ) Great gem of a movie!
