Two and a half stars

I (very generously) gave it 3 but it's really a 2 and a half. Treat Williams is good as he always is, and the movie itself is very ambitious. There are some good moments with the dinosaurs but too often the filmmakers don't know when to quit and push scenes too long eradicating any of the effective shots they were able to accomplish, reducing them to awkward cgi. The daughter is so annoying that you just about want to push her into a big mob of the carnivorous beasties, but it is amusing how often the cinematography depends on capturing her blossoms bouncing or her enormous backside running upstairs. You could make a drinking game out of it, if you had a tolerance against alcohol poisoning.

One thing the flick does provide is entertainment, just not often intentionally. There is a police chief character that you swear was cast by just picking the first middle aged guy off the street, yet he EMOTES SO HARD it will leave you in hysterics. There isn't a lot of gore, but there is a lot of carnage a few good bloody bits. There are a lot of rip off moments, not just of in general movie themes but SPECIFIC famous scenes, mostly from Jurassic Park and Die Hard(!?). It could have been a schlock classic if it had included more gore and even some random nudity thrown in. It needed to feel less like you could just about get away with everything seen here on basic cable.

If watching dependably good Treat Williams beat up dinosaurs with a block of wood and fire ax (he even chops a head off!) while heck breaks loose as all manner of prehistoric lizards wreak havoc on L.A. sounds good to you (like it did to me) then by all means rent it. If you're not a fan of cheesy action (just thinking about how one of Treat's buddies bites it in the movie makes me chuckle right now) and sci fi, then stay far far away!
