Mysterious and engaging
"Very well shot and Directed. Reminded me of Christopher Nolan's early films"
Dark, gritty, cool.
I knew from the first few minutes I was not watching a typical film. It was cerebral, mysterious and created an intriguing mood and tone. Some great "raw" visuals. Really dug the minimal filmmaking techniques. Would love to see the story expanded in a bigger budget version!
Agent 5: A Night in the Last Life Of
An outstanding movie that draws you in and delivers plenty of noir suspense. Agent 5 offers up taut dialogue, pitch-perfect performances from the cast (clearly all are polished professionals, but Bill McCormack as the doctor particularly stands out), and a gritty, haunting aesthetic. This low-budget film manages to pack more punch than most big-budget features nowadays are capable of. Yes, there are echoes of Christopher Nolan, David Lynch, and (IMO) a touch of early X Files , but at the same time, filmmaker Matthew Desotell displays an intelligence and mesmerizing style that is uniquely his own. If his first feature film is this compelling, there are incredible things in store for us as his career unfolds.
