Fresh: Although it draws about the longest and most pliant bow that has ever been drawn in the line of fanciful war films and goes completely overboard in the last reel, it is still a continuously fascinating, frequently thrilling and occasionally exalting show.
Fresh: Howard Hawks finds a perfect vehicle for his study of the male group. William Faulkner polished the dialogue, but as a silent it would still be tremendously exciting and evocative.

AIR FORCE
Air Force is a classic WW2 propaganda film with great actors particularly Harry Carey and John Garfield.It portrays a Air Force B-52 bomber on a routine mission that flys past Pearl Harbor right after The Dec. 7th 1941 bombing by the Japanese,and their adventures afterward. The movie shows the participants reactions which portrays the whole of a country and their feelings.A great moving movie that gets you right involved as if you were actually on the plane with these men.Thanks I-tunes for letting it be available.hagster
Intense. It served its purpose.
The plane was actually a B-17 Flying Fortress. The film shows different types of men put into sudden world wide danger. It is even hard for them to completely understand what has happened, but they work together, like the disperate society they came from will pull together to challange the tyranny of Germny and Japan.
Well done on all counts.
Many of the action scenes were filmed aboard an actual Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, albeit an older model that had no power-operated turrets or a tail-gun position as the details of those were considered a military secret at the time of the making of this picture.
The cast included well-known character actors like Harry Carey and George Tobias, who turned in superb performances in their roles as members of a peace-time military air crew who suddenly found themselves in the middle of a violent and desperate war.
No blockbuster motion picture, "Air Force," is a well-done effort on all counts. I recommend this classic World War Two film for the simple reason that it is so well done on all counts. While the viewer won't be astounded, they won't be disappointed, either.
