Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: He manages, just barely, to keep the project from going soft, and to keep us perched between finding Alan Partridge unbearable and admitting that we kind of enjoy his company. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Apr 3, 2014

Fresh: Steve Coogan's hilariously acidic creation, the buffoonish radio host Alan Partridge, is finally back. And like so many reunions, this one starts off all smiles and quickly grows tiresome. – Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly, Apr 4, 2014

Fresh: It's a silly comedy and Alan's a petty egomaniac, but Coogan is a hoot as he skewers regional British radio and sends up conceited fools. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Apr 3, 2014

Fresh: "Alan Partridge" plays to all of Coogan's strengths and all of the character's foibles. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, Apr 3, 2014

Coogan at his best

This was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. I'm a fan of the Alan's shows and books but this is just on another level. If you like fast paced British comedy this movie will not disappoint.

Laugh out loud funny

I discovered Steve Coogan from the movie, The Trip, which was also very funny. I suspected that he would really be in his element with the sort of slapstick British humor. I was not disappointed. After renting I watched it twice before it expired just to catch the quick lines. You have to love British humor, but this is a keeper.

Surprisingly Satisfying Comedy

I don’t know if this movie just caught me in the right mood, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The offbeat humor Coogan delivers creates a resentful fascination with his character. You can’t stand Partridge but you want to be him too. It’s just a well written comedy that works well with its light story and a web of comedic liners and scenarios.
