Finally a movie I haven't seen yet!
Alaskaland is hands down the most original movie I've seen in years. Stories about identity, family, and cultural heritage are told all the time, but never featuring Nigerian Alaskans! Didn't even know there were any! It's a funny and heartwarming, and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in universal themes told with characters rarely seen in cinema.
Good film.
In my younger days some characters I could relate to. What was most insightful was the main theme family. As a movie buff I encourage all to witness this film, I felt like this film was better than most of the crap Hollywood has to offer...
FOBs in Alaska
AlaskaLand brilliantly captures an array of issues that newly minted and first generation Africans turned Americans face in their new world without being preachy or rife with caricature. Definitely a good movie night selection for those looking to broaden your scope of culturally relevant flicks.
