Plot Summary
Ellen Burstyn ("The Exorcist," "Same Time, Next Year") won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in this memorable comedy-drama about a widowed mother suddenly forced to take charge of her own life. Director Martin Scorcese ("Cape Fear," "GoodFellas") guides a wonderful cast including the very young future Academy Award-winner Jodie Foster ("Maverick," "The Silence of the Lambs"), singer-actor Kris Kristofferson ("Lone Star," "A Star Is Born") and Oscar-nominees Diane Ladd ("Ramblin' Rose") and Harvey Keitel ("Pulp Fiction"). This classic film served as the basis for the long-running TV comedy hit "Alice."

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore is an American comedy of the sort of vitality that dazzles European film critics and we take for granted.
Fresh: The movie's filled with brilliantly done individual scenes.
Fresh: Not always successful, but packed with energy and a lively Oscar-winning performance by Burstyn.
Fresh: Despite the early stylistic flourishes, Alice is a mostly naturalistic venture from Scorsese, and not that indicative of what would follow in his career. But it's a fantastic combination of these two seemingly divisive styles.

HEY!!! THIS IS SCORSESE!!! ONE GREAT FILM!!
In the 80's (I think it was the 80's :()) there was a TV show called "Alice" A show based on this film and couldn't come close to this great movie. Ellen is great as is the kid who plays her son. Also in a small but good role is Jodie Foster. Rent it and see for yourself. You may just buy it to see it again and again. Five BIG stars!!!! '
Endearing & Hilarious
Some of the most authentic and quirky characters I've seen. Burstyn is just phenomenal. Bittersweet at times and has some real insight about life. Anyways, can't recommend it enough!
pretty good
Pretty good movie, but one of the most bizzare and worst trailers I have ever seen. Doesn't really tell you anything about the movie.
