Plot Summary

Beware, earthlings. From The X-Files' R.W. Goodwin comes a new cult classic in the tradition of The Blob and It Came from Outer Space. It's 1957, a spaceship has just landed in a quiet small town, and Earth is threatened by an unknown evil. But fear not, hope also has arrived. Will and Grace's Eric McCormack stars as an astronomer possessed by an alien bent on saving our humble planet. Yet even with the help of a diner waitress, is he any match for the Ghota, a rogue alien on a murderous rampage?

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A charmingly sentimental but ultimately pointless homage to the sci-fi classics of yesteryear. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Alien Trespass, which opens Friday on the heels of the witty Monsters vs. Aliens, feels like an also-ran. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: While Alien Trespass stays true to the era and the genre, it forgets that its mission in this galaxy is not merely to pay tribute but to entertain. – Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: By the time the tedious proceedings reach their conclusion, one has long begun wishing for a little Mel Brooks-style comic anarchy. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Apr 23, 2009

Outstanding Movie

Some of the reviewers here must not get this movie. This movie is meant to be a tribute to the bad B movies of the 50's time frame. Plus there are so many references to other older shows, films, etc. Like, Father Knows Best, Leave it to Beaver, Happy Days, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Plan 9, I could keep going, there are tons of movie references. My favorite is the one thats "in your face" about "the Blob" with people running out of the theater (no spoiler here). You have to put on the right attitude with this movie. Its actually so well done, but not your normal or typical movie. I hope this helps. Cheers!

B-scifi

Goodwin created an authentic 50's-style scifi flick. it's supposed to be bad. that's what makes it brilliant.

Alien Trespass: 1950s styling, clever acting and above all a fun movie throughout!

A breath of fresh air in a summer filled with Transformers and GI JOE hyper-CGI overload. Alien Trespass has a subtle plot that captivates even after your initial nostolgic reaction to the clever filming style. Unlike the other CGI filled remake of a 1950s classic "When the Earth Stood Still", the mood of 1950s Sci-Fi in Alien Trespass is captured in a modern light that works. Eric McCormack, Jody Thompson and Jenni Baird are all wonderful and Dan Lauria as Chief Dawson really steals the show. Highly recomended for pre-teens to adult. Fun, laughs and action, just make sure you don't forget the popcorn and keep watching the skies!
