I'm halfway through...
I have never wanted to kill a movie character more than the main guy in this film. He is the whiniest idiot ever committed to film. I want to punch him repeatedly in the face for being such a apathetic coward.
And now - back to the movie...
The worst
Maybe the worst movie ever. Just annoying and doesn't even come close to the Blair Witch (not that it was an Academy Award winner either). Please, please, please save your money and more importantly, your time!!
Good.
"Amber Alert" is a very interesting and refreshing take on the hand-held craze for the horror genre.
Before you read the nitty-gritty, the acting was good but in some cases a little weak. However, there is a lot of suspense.
It plays with the tension between the lead characters. Trust me, they are quite frustrating. I was literally yelling at my computer… but… at the same time, the characters and the things they did and said felt human. You are thinking to yourself…. oh you are so stupid…. but honestly it sets you on edge because its such a reality.
Here's the thing, this movie is very much realistic. It depicts characters that are true to life even if they are frustrating and most "intelligent" movie goers think they are stupid.
I know. I think the characters were being stupid and were certainly frustrating me to death with their bickering and other things (you'll know what I mean when you watch it)… but my heart was racing and I was on the edge of my couch clutching a pillow tightly. It's part of what makes the movie scary and thrilling - its realistic. (you say don't go into the basement because you heard a scary noise down there… you say you would never do it… but when the time comes… I'm sure you would at least be tempted to.)
So, what makes this installment of the hand-held camera films different from others is a lot of things? First of all, it doesn't take place in a forest. It takes place where people can easily relate to… highways and cars. Then, rather than some monster or zombies or something… you have a true-to-life situation. These things make the movie relatable… scary… and refreshing to watch.
I recommend that you watch this if you like the hand-held camera sort of films.
