Plot Summary
What do Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston have in common? They are all victims to the addiction to over-the-counter drugs. America consumes 80% of prescription narcotics for the entire world. American Addict reveals the connections between government regulators, big pharmaceutical companies, physicians, and the media. Together they reinforce treatment through prescribed medication. In the style of the "Inside Job" and "Food, Inc.", this film exposes a shocking hypocrisy most are unaware even exists.

Very Compelling !
PILLS (People, Isn't Life Lovely, Swallow)
"Open Wide & Say Aah Don't Think So...!" I've never been a fan of 'Western' Medicines, being confined to a wheelzchair since the age of 2 due to a horrific Logging Truck vs Family Sedan, I'm familiar w/Pharmaceuticals, hate 'em, seemed like too many Doctors of mine simply wanted to use me as a 'guinea pig', pill for this, take 2 for that, etc... Luckily I never developed a 'habit' for them! Problem I always saw was that, sure, they may 'mask' your symptoms (pain, etc), but soon as they wear off, the symptoms return, thus starting that 'Vicious Cycle'. Take Care of Yourselves & Happy New Year!
So annoyed
These people are not doctors... Yes there are problems with abuse of prescription drugs. But just because you obsessively researched something does not give you the right to lump in people like myself who are extremely hard to treat for mental illness with the right combination of drugs. An example of a drug they used was abilify, which can be used for psychosis, but don't make anyone look like the devil for discovering that lower doses can help with mood stabilization. Not everyone is med seeking.
