Plot Summary
Watch it before it is available in theaters! Set in the lush hills and cobbled streets of the Amalfi Coast, Jane (Kate Bosworth, BLUE CRUSH) is searching for something more from her life. She loves her husband (Iddo Goldberg), but the silence between them is growing. Her work, writing her grandmother's memoir (voiced by Claire Bloom), immerses her in the quiet beauty of the town, its islands...and finally, in the romantic embrace of a younger man (Jamie Blackley). Jane must decide where her passions will take her, and who she really wants to be, as she documents the discoveries of AND WHILE WE WERE HERE.

Rotten: The marital crisis at the movie's heart has lost its allegorical weight. Jane and Leonard are just another unhappy couple with problems that have nothing to do with the direction of Western civilization.
Fresh: An homage to neorealism, the French New Wave and the cinematic power of faces, as well as a lark of sorts for Coiro and Bosworth after their collaboration on Life Happens.
Fresh: It's to Coiro's credit that no one emerges as a villain - and that, however painful, on the other side lies hope.
Rotten: Unfortunately, this tale of an illicit romance between an unhappily married woman and a younger man traffics in far too many genre cliches, beginning with its idyllic locale.
Customer Reviews
Delicious.
Almost unbearably beautiful. I felt I was in a trance throughout the entire film. Bosworth and Blackley give flawless, heartbreaking performances. Slow moving, but in the best way.
Melancholy and serene.
A quiet, lovely sort of film.
Lovely
While this movie isn't perfect, it definitely strikes a chord that many couples can relate to. Lost in a relationship that just doesn't fit, Kate ventures off to find herself again and receives the help from a fun, adventurous young man. I found that Jamie Blackley's performance was standout as he stole many of the scenes. Many viewers have mentioned that they didn't enjoy the ending. I completely disagree. It was the right ending which made for a more realistic and enjoyable chick flick. Salut!
