Plot Summary
Set 10 years later, the Phantom has escaped from Paris to New York where he lives amongst the joy rides and freak shows of Coney Island. He has finally found a place for his music to soar, all that is missing is his love Christine Daaé. Let me just say first the scene when Christine sees the Phantom OH MY GOD!!!!!! You hear the music so you know something is going to happen and the doors burst open and he is standing there looking SEXY AS HELL.
Andrew Lloyd Webber NEVER dissapoints..
After reading the novel that the story is based on I was very skeptic about watching the musical but I am VERY glad I gave it a chance. As a sequal to Phantom you're left to make a lot of assumptions and some of the story doesn't make too much sense if you're a big fan of the first movie/show, but it is still worth watching. As a stand alone musical its a wonderful story with a lot of musical referances to the first show, Andrew Lloyd Webber knew what he was doing, the music is divine and the acting couldn't be better. Beautiful all around...
Really?! Really!
At first I wasn't happy with a sequel to an amazing musical and story. But once I heard the songs I couldn't resist any longer! This musical is fantastic! Coney Island is the PERFECT scenario for a PHANTOM sequel, and I must say this version in Australia is ten times better than the one in London. Maybe making Raul a drunk addicted to gambling was a bit too much, but I always wanted Christine to be with the Phantom. But what I really disliked about the musical was the fact that the kid was actually the phantom's son, not Raul's. That left me a bit, I don't know, concerned (?) because I always thought that the relationship between Christine and the Phantom was pure and everything, and then suddenly they had sex… But other than that, the musical is great! And the lyrics are simply amazing! Definetly worth 20 dollars!
