Plot Summary
When his grandmother Polly is found wandering outside one morning, Jack, a successful architect, must travel back to his tiny hometown in the mountains of West Virginia to deal with her worsening Alzheimer's. But what was intended to be a quick, under-the-radar trip becomes complicated when no local nursing home can take Polly. Torn between the career opportunity of a lifetime, caring for his last living relative and running from his own painful memories, Jack’s carefully constructed life begins to unravel. As the town prepares to honor Polly’s life by crowning her the “Queen of Cass” at the local festival, Jack struggles to hide his secret from them all. But when a childhood friend forces it out of him, Jack must choose between standing still or facing the pain of his past, so that he can finally move on with his life. Set almost entirely in the small, historic logging town of Cass, WV, Angel’s Perch examines the delicate relationship between past and present, memory and loss.

Genuine heart
A lot of movies we are exposed to are the big blockbusters about superheroes or aliens or a raunchy comedy. And while some of those are fun, and sometimes even well written, there is a collection of movies that aren't thrust before your eyes every commercial break that are wonderful stories with genuine heart.
Angel's Perch is such a movie. It tells a heartbreakingly beautiful story that centers around the heartbreakingly awful disease that is Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is something many people can relate to, and, unfortunately, have a connection. There is balance of humor to offset the sobering topic. With real life stories about regular, tiny heroes, not everything in Angel's Perch wraps up so neatly. It just seems like a short glimpse into a longer timeline.
Honest and Refreshing
What I enjoyed most about Angel's Perch was that it was so refreshingly different than anything currently produced in Hollywood. You can tell as a viewer that these filmmakers wanted to make an honest film that meant something to them. I admire that. The film was masterfully paced and the West Virginia setting was both comfortable and beautiful. The acting was top notch and the production value is bar none. Worth a see for sure.
Beautiful and Heartfelt
Angel's Perch is a beautiful, honest and touching film. The entire cast is incredible and tells a honest hard story with grace, beauty and humor. This movie is a must see. And the music is pretty incredible too.
