Plot Summary

Pol is a teenager with a seemingly calm life. He lives with his brother, and is still in high school. However, Pol has a secret: Deerhoof, a cuddly teddy bear who thinks, moves around, and with whom he shares his best moments. Life goes on as normal until the arrival of Ikari, an enigmatic student who seems to be hiding something. Pol is fascinated by his new classmate and attracted to the dark side he harbors. An inexplicable death and a series of strange events will transform the meek student’s routine into a fantastic adventure, which will take over their lives.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Dastmalchian and Shaw are thoroughly convincing both as vividly drawn, emotionally complex individuals, and as a couple inextricably bound by addiction and enabling. Among the well-cast supporting players, John Heard makes the most significant impact. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Mar 21, 2014

Fresh: Grimy and sad but not sensationalistic, the debut feature is like Drugstore Cowboy drained of its hipness and sex appeal -- not a bad thing, certainly, but also not something that ensures strong commercial prospects beyond a limited arthouse run. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Mar 21, 2014

NOT Comedy

This movie was listed as comedy. It’s not. But what it is, is a great movie.

No subtitles

wasted money renting this. There were no english subtitles though the teddy bear spoke in English. might be good if you are fluent in English AND Spanish

Good film, but definitely not comedy

I’m not sure how iTunes decided this was comedy. Because of an animated stuffed toy? Also, the Rotten Tomatoes reviews posted with this title clearly belong to the 2014 American film and not to this one. Still, I very much enjoyed watching this. There were a few loose ends, I felt, but I don’t necessarily need a story to have a today ending. My only other criticism is that the dialogue soundtrack was often too soft to hear, even with the volume turned all the way up.
