Plot Summary
Catalan architect Antonio Gaudí (1852-1926) designed some of the world's most astonishing buildings, interiors, and parks; Japanese director Hiroshi Teshigahara constructed some of the most aesthetically audacious films ever made. Here their artistry melds in a unique, enthralling cinematic experience. Less a documentary than a visual poem, Teshigahara's Antonio Gaudí takes viewers on a tour of Gaudí's truly spectacular architecture, including his massive, still-unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona. With camera work as bold and sensual as the curves of his subject's organic structures, Teshigahara immortalizes Gaudí on film.

Fresh: The film is a visual rhapsody enhanced with music and sound effects created by the renowned Japanese film composer Toru Takemitsu and two collaborators.
Fresh: Something of a passion project, completed decades after an earlier visit by the director, the film is given over to an eager, rolling catalog of Gaudi's fin de siecle works sans much voiceover or any explanatory text.
Fresh: This 1984 documentary about the architect essentially lets Gaudi's work speak for itself, and it couldn't be more eloquent.
Fresh: Had Lewis Carroll switched from jotting down his visions to carving them in stone, his works might have looked a lot like Antonio Gaudi's.

Stunning—HIGHLY recommended
The visuals are great, the music very appropriate, a feast for the eyes and mind. Gaudí's work is of another dimension. On a lesser note, iTunes crashed halfway, and I have yet to see my access restored.
