Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: There is nothing to set this work apart from any number of mediocre Allen films. – Jean Oppenheimer, Hollywood Reporter, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Anything Else isn't just the latest Woody Allen movie; it's also the smallest. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Who knows what sense an American Pie-digging, Woodman-ignorant undergrad might make of the canned rhythms, the trilobite-era one-liners, the awkward declarative dialogue, the Catskills-resort frames of reference, the freshman philosophy. – Michael Atkinson, Village Voice, Sep 25, 2003

Fresh: There's a lot of truth in the screenplay, and, combined with Ricci's top-notch, can't-take-your- eyes-off-her-when- she's-on-screen performance, this gives the movie a strong spine. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Sep 16, 2006

Thanks iTunes!

I've been waiting for YEARS to purchase this, and now I can! Thanks! Now let's just get Sleeper on here and I'll gladly fork over another 10 bucks.

Overlooked performances

Certainly not a great movie, but the performances from Danny DeVito and Christina Ricci are very noteworthy. Woody Allen wrote a dream comic role for Ricci--the nightmare girlfriend that one cannot help but love. She presents this role with aplomb that seems effortless but surely can't be.

Painful

The story went nowhere, the characters were unlikeable (no exceptions), and the script had me begging everyone to please shut-up… made me want to avoid all Woody Allen films forever. Do not watch.
