Plot Summary
Trevor Newandyke is a struggling comedian and a pyromaniac. Not only does he bomb on stage, but he bombs in everyday life. He's fed up with threats from the cable company, Slurpee price hikes and all the jerks who think they can push him around. All he wants is a break. But instead of getting himself together or taking his anger to the stage, he turns to the loud din of his headphones and the crackling glow of fire to ease his mind.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A biting, sometimes droll look at the allure of humiliation, "Ape" appears simple, but its underlying machinery is joltingly clever.
Fresh: While the delivery isn't the smoothest, this portrait of a sociopath comic still hits its keenly-observed marks.
Fresh: Potrykus offers a variety of intriguing suggestions about the relationship between laughter and violence, performance and destruction.
Fresh: This unnerving character study by Joel Potrykus embraces the anxieties and neuroses of its protagonist, but despite the dire subject matter it manages to be fractiously playful.

Ape is Outstanding
This film is amazing! Josha Burge is an extremely talented actor and his character is completely engaging throughout the film. Best Independent film I've seen in years. Looking forward to Potrykus' next film 'Buzzard' which will premier at SXSW. So rad!
Interesting film
Honestly this film is a lot of fun. The lead actor does a fantastic job carrying the project. It can be slow at parts but it is worth it to stay with it all the way, it really pays off. Only complaint is that they bike thief looks like a bit of a doughy ex-wrestler, but he is only in the film for like a minute.
worst movie EVER!
Without question, this is the worst movie I've ever seen. I'm fairly certain that the two positive reviews were written by family members of the film's collective, because this movie was just horrible! The one saving grace was that I rented it, so I only lost a few dollars ... but oh, how I wasted time from my life on this PoS. A comedy? There was nothing funny at all! Was this a Film School project? Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!!! (iTunes, why must I give this a "star" to review?)
