Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: It's stripped of narration, talking heads, and anything else that might threaten to slow it down. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Aug 22, 2011

Fresh: Plays like a narrative feature, juicy and alive, with enough kinetic excitement to hook the Formula One-ignorant (me, I knew next to nothing about the subject), let alone racing fans worldwide. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Aug 18, 2011

Fresh: The movie's assemblage of audio interviews poured mostly over astounding race footage is fit for a shrine. – Wesley Morris, Boston Globe, Aug 18, 2011

Fresh: What makes "Senna" essential viewing is the propulsive education it provides in one of the world's most popular sports, and the introduction it provides to an extraordinary athlete and human being. – Ann Hornaday, Washington Post, Aug 19, 2011

Not worth the price

As F1 documentaries go this is a huge disappointment. Old stock footage of mostly other drivers and other formula, with still images of Ayrton and the odd bit of Williams promo material.
If you want a decent movie about Ayrton buy 'Senna'.
This should cost around $0.99 to buy and even that I would question.

Must for F1 fans

This movie is really important to all auto racing fans. It brings back memories for those who lived during this important icon's career and tells younger fan why so many fans idolized him and what contributions he made to the sport. Good insight into the times, including the less than perfect quality of the film of races then. Excellent interviews of those who knew him. A piece of motorsports history.

Can't believe this was released in 2011

With almost no race footage and a repetitive script, this movie seems done by a ten year old using the first version of iMovie. There is nothing here a race fan doesn't know, and the few interesting images they have are not worth any price. Don't rent it. Not worth it, seriously.
