Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The flailing, protagonists of Backseat, while not exactly 40-year-old virgins, can have avoided that fate only by the tender mercies of women with low expectations.
Rotten: Culturally falling somewhere between Sideways and Dumb and Dumber, this low-rent road movie similarly rides on principles of audience identification, largely minus competent helming, thesping or scripting.
Rotten: A road movie that runs out of gas almost immediately after it gets started, Backseat is the sort of quirky indie feature that impresses at festivals but feels wan when experienced under real cinematic conditions.
Rotten: Bruce Van Dusen's 2005 comedy plots a meandering course due north without locating a word of truth.
Customer Reviews
Totally Underrated
A few years ago, a buddy of mine worked on this film and told me to check it out. I'm glad I finally did because this movie was awesome. For an indie, it was a lot better than I expected. Keep an eye on Bruce Van Dusen and Josh Alexander because these guys are talented. Backseat was filled with characters and situations that felt real and I loved all of the witty dialogue. I highly recommend this one!
Austin Film Festival Favorite
Ignore rotten tomatoes. I saw this film in Austin and it Won the audience favorite award! It's seriously funny and very well acted. I found a bunch of great reviews like "the extremely funny version of Sideways". I am not sure why Rotten Tomatoes didn't publish all of those reviews. I agree with the last comment - this film is totally underrated, at least on the RT site.
Funny as hell
Ok I have only seen the preview but it looks funny and awesome as hell
