Plot Summary
A washed-up ballplayer is put in charge of a pack of kids scarcely more mature than himself in this remake of the 1976 comedy hit. Morris Buttermaker (Billy Bob Thornton) is a former major league baseball player whose career and life has hit the skids thanks to his overwhelming fondness for booze and women. Needing a break, his lawyer (Marcia Gay Harden) arranges for Buttermaker to take on coaching responsibilities for the Bears, a Little League baseball team comprised of a handful of hapless losers. As Buttermaker tries to groom his young charges into a winning team, he also gives them a glimpse of his hard-living lifestyle while they gear up to take on perennial rivals the Yankees and their arrogant Coach Bullock (Greg Kinnear).

Fresh: Billy Bob Thornton is the best weapon against cute that a kid baseball movie ever had.
Rotten: The material is so solid and Thornton so tailor-made that the movie almost gets by.
Fresh: At least Linklater isn't just picking the bones of his forebears; he honors them as they deserve.
Rotten: More irksome is the ordained focus on plot undulation and simplistic motivation, as if nobody remembered that the first film was a social satire.

Billy bob was great!
I thought the movie was fantastic, not as good as the original but still hilarious. Billy bob is hilarious as an alchoholic youth baseball coach, the kid in the wheelchair is the best.

itunes got a great movie to buy not rent but on reviews on other web sites alot of pepole were complaing and think this is unrealilstic that kids in this movie say bad words well i have news for you kids know about these words i hear kids at my school use the f word and s word and were still in grade school by the way great movie i remember i rented it at blockbuster
