Plot Summary
German writer-director Percy Adlon makes an American debut with Bagdad Cafe starring CCH Pounder (Face/Off) and Jack Palance (City Slickers). Injecting his bold and unique style into a sweet story about the common threads that connect disparate people, Adlon succeeds in creating a cinematic jewel. Drawn to a pair of lights in the barren American desert sky, a mysterious German woman, Jasmin, stumbles upon a dilapidated motel/diner in the middle of nowhere. Her unusual appearance and demeanor are at first suspicious to Brenda, the exasperated owner who has difficulty making ends meet. But when an unlikely magic sparks between the two women, this lonely desert outpost is transformed into a thriving and popular oasis.

This movie is broken
Don't rent this movie, it is broken. I reported this movie as broken almost a month ago. I gave the movie 4 stars in honor of the original version, the working version that should be available for download. When you try to play the movie, it will simply pauses, and reverts back to the cover screen. You will never even get to the opening credits. I reported this issue, got a refund for my trouble, and gave Apple a month to fix the problem. They were supposed to take the movie down and do whatever they have to do to fix it. Instead, Apple has chosen to leave the broken version up, and to continue to collect money from an unplayable movie, rather then take the trouble to fix it. The other option would be to take it down completely. I am surprised, Apple ordinarily has a commitment to quality service and fairness and leaving this broken version is not an example any of these qualities.
Corrupt file?
Really wanted to see this again but after three attempts to download the file, I had to request a refund. On iOS it just wouldn't play and on my Mac it crashed iTunes. Hope Apple will fix this soon.
Indie feel film
This is a very unusual unique film. It has a wonderful indie feel for a movie made in the 1980s. This is a feel good ( I hate that phrase, but it fits) movie about people coming together. It is a good time!!!!!
