It has a certain charm

The writing is average, the acting is average, the directing is below average, and yet, this movie has a certain charm. I'm somewhat smitten by its incompetency, its randomness, and its complete disregard for structure or style or anything related to the notion of coherence. Maybe it's the complete absence of pretentiousness, or the fact the kid who played young Matt Damon in The Departed is in here, or the fact that there's this Filipino kid whose just subtly hilarious for reasons I have yet to understand--I'm not sure, maybe all of these things. Regardless of the specifics, it's a nice little rental. P.S. The title is awful. They should have just called it I've Never Written Or Directed Before: Bear With Us

I Am Embarrassed I Rented This...

I felt deep pity for ALL involved in the making of this film. I suspect criminals took their families hostage to force them to make this. Randy Quaid was probably over joyed to die in this film and the best acting was done by inanimate objects like tennis balls and walls. To all involved in making this film... I hope your families were returned to you unharmed....

Don't Judge This 'Book' By Its Cover

This movie is unfortunately packaged as another throw away teen sex/sports comedy. If it was presented differently it could be judged for what it is: a dark comedy with Sean William Scott giving a great performance as a wholly off-beat and original tennis coach. Though the psychedelic parts of the movie tend to veer too far out at times, it helps in bringing the viewer into the coach's demented mind. The secondary characters add a ton of comedic value. The little girl who compulsively lies should NOT be missed! What comes out of her mouth reminds you why a comedy like this can't be seen in theaters. What the makers of this movie accomplished with such a low budget is commendable.
