Plot Summary
Senn (Justin Long) and Mala (Evan Rachel Wood) are two rebellious alien teens living on the beautiful planet Terra, a place that promotes peace and tolerance, having long ago rejected war and weapons of mass destruction. But when Terra is invaded by human beings fleeing a civil war and environmental catastrophe, the planet is plunged into chaos. During the upheaval, Mala befriends an injured human pilot (Luke Wilson) and each learns the two races are not so different from one another. Together they must face the terrifying realization that in a world of limited resources, only one of their races is likely to survive.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The movie's messages are delivered with a heavy hand, but some of the scenes are eye-popping, especially -- sorry, peace-loving Terrians -- the battle sequences.
Fresh: An earnest animated tale of war and peace in outer space, augmented by captivating 3-D images.
Rotten: Aggressively ugly and intergalactically boring, the dismal sci-fi kiddie cartoon Battle for Terra is too weak to be shown anywhere except maybe on the next flight to Saturn.
Rotten: Look past the movie's procreative protagonists and you'll find a thoughtful but muddled tale of clashing cultures, studded with battle scenes so explosion-filled that parents should think twice about bringing small children.
Customer Reviews
A very suprising sucess for the family.
Most low budget animated films over the years have been simply bad with no morality. This movie had quite the opposite. It had a good story, great animation, awesome action, but most importantly,a great moral. A high recomendation for any family. P.S., Clone Wars fans should check it out to.
Good show. Great for discussion with your kids.
This show presents important moral issues in an accessible way that it perfect for discussion with your kids. Multiple levels depending on the age of your children.
A Solid Animated Sci-Fi
Forget all the "great-for-families" mush. I'm an 18-year-old Star Wars nut and I liked this movie not as an animated family movie, but as a well-done action/sci-fi movie. The movie has a lot of cool action and I really liked the animation and visual style. The story and characters are nothing super special, but they're not bad. Overall, Battle for Terra is a cool movie with a lot of action for an animated film, and it's not just for kids.
