The director should be ashamed! After being shot by the baddies, our "hero" repeatedly "forgets" he was shot. Using the same arm he was "shot" in, he has no trouble lifting his own weight, lifting heavy weaponry, firing heavy waponry, driving a car, flying a plane, carrying a woman(more than once), swimming in a river, and "saving the world." All this without a drop of blood! This rates as a "C" movie.

Better than you'd think

From the very beginning this b flick sets itself apart from standard low budget flicks of it's kind with some very well shot cinematography. It also wastes little time getting to the action with a surprisingly bloody opening massacre in an airport that leaves dozens dead and mangled or infected with a werewolf type virus.

The acting from the side characters is predictably pretty flat but there are plenty of seasoned character actors in the lead roles and are far better than the material probably required. Their presence brings the whole thing up a notch, and include Ariana Richards (Jurassic Park, Tremors), Dennis Haysbert (tv's The Unit and 24), Wes Studi (Last of the Mohicans, Heat), Craig Scheffer (Nightbreed, A River Runs Through It), Bill Duke (Predator, Commando, Payback), Kate Vernon (tv's Battlestar Galactica, and Heroes) and genre film favorite Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters 1 and 2, The Crow but tv fans probably know him from Law and Order and Guster's Dad on Psych).

The wolf effects are decent, and the finale is pretty ambitious with our heroes not only caught in the midst of an army of Werewolves terrorizing New York, but also trying to evade a murderous officer and his men that want to turn the beasts into weapons for the military (of course, right?).

It's all still very much a b flick but it's worth a rental if you're a fan of the genre.
